Read much? RIF!!! I said I'd rather start Geno, THAN TRADE FOR FOLES. I think the results would be pretty much the same regardless of whether Geno or Foles started. I think Foles sucks and isn't a good fit for our offense. Geno just sucks, period. Both are stop gaps. In general, Foles is probably a better QB overall, but the fact that he isn't a good fit for our offense and that the Jets would have to give up a draft pick or picks to get him erases that advantage imo. Thus, the only difference would be that we would have given up a draft pick or picks for Foles, yet would probably not yield any better result.

I didn't insist on anything. I actually misspoke. I should have said that there are three basic categories of QBs: franchise QBs, stop-gaps/JAGS, and rookies who may or may not be ready to play. If a rookie QB is ready to start, great, but if not, it's not gonna help him or the team to throw him to the wolves.

My bet would be that they would start him and not attempt to sign a vet. Whether that would be the right way to go, only time will tell.

I was listening to Mike Smith on the Francesa show a few weeks ago. He's an interesting guy. He said the reason he was fired was he got too complacent and failed to "communicate" expectations to the Atlanta FO. Therefore, if the Jets were to draft a QB and start him, then it's important that the expectations of such a move be ratified by the whole organization. In other words, you can't start a rookie QB and expect to make it to the Super Bowl (although that has happened). Earlier, you blamed Rex for starting Sanchez his rookie year but I beg to differ that that decision was his alone. I believe that was an organizational decision. I think where things broke down was in year 3 of Sanchez when a lot of the talent of the previous two years was allowed to walk. I feel that Rex should have known the expectations were too high for Sanchez that year. If Fitz is re-signed, then the expectations have to be higher than last season, otherwise why re-sign him. If on the other hand, they draft and start a rookie then the expectations should be lower and the whole organization needs to buy into them. For example, for Winston and Mariotta, the expectations were probably: "we won't have a winning season but we want to be competitive and see growth at the QB position." If those expectations are met, then the organization can take a measure of satisfaction and prepare for new expectations for the coming season.

You may be right about Rex and the Jets organization. I'm just guessing since Rex was so slack in so many other ways, I assumed it was on him.

I agree with you regarding expectations and communication is always vital.
