you would rather win games? I don't know if you have noticed but we are 2-10 what good would it do to win games now?
I stopped reading after comfy? who uses that term describing a nfl QB? sounds like a term used at a gay rave party
Not even close to the same. Brady won a lot of games in college and in his last 2 seasons he started 23 games and threw for 4,500 yards while grabbing two bowl victories. The only reason it was a story is because of the moron coach wanting to play his star recruit Drew Henson for a few games. If Simms was to be compared to a old Patriot it would be Matt Cassell.
There are at least 32 backup QB's in this league. That's why they have a roster spot, to be a backup. Someone cheap, that can come in at a moments notice and play until the starter returns to action. We don't have a starter, our backup was already thrown into play, that didn't work out well. So the mere fact that Simms is not even the backup, but the third option, means that it will only complicate the picture more than it already is. There is no upside in starting Simms, at all, so why bother. Only a negative light would be further put on this team by going down that road, why do that?
Just because you made the thread, doesn't mean this thread is all about you. I did read the OP, I was making a post towards many in this thread, a general opinion I have, it was not for you. Thanks though.
We have already given him a shot last year. How long has he been on this roster now? We know what Simms has to offer, the team knows what Simms has to offer more so than any of us, they are not convinced he is anything more than a good scout team player at this point. He wont be around much longer, so there is no upside. Everyone hopes for this miracle that could happen, it's a desperate kind of feeling going around right now, I get it, but he is not the answer so why even entertain it?
Brady was a winner at Michigan, beating out Drew Henson and winning multiple Bowl games. He had a successful College career. Brady wasn't regarded highly by the NFL based on his physical attributes.
Mop up duty in 3 games is not getting a shot. He is in his 3rd season, the team should be taking these last few games this year to evaluate everyone on the roster. We know what we have in Geno, see what Simms does and then next season they can cut bait or keep him around as the back up. This isn't about expecting a miracle, it's about evaluating everyone. Given the staffs draft picks over the last few years I am not too convinced that they know what anyone has to offer, let's see them on the field.
This is why I hate twitter and miss the days when writers actually had to write. What does this mean? Did someone ask Kimberley Martin about Simms and that's her response? Or did she ask Rex and that's actually his answer?
No way. I'd sooner make a bet that all 3 are battling it out for a roster spot than all 3 being gone by July. Especially Smith-- he will be here
Clearly their is a massive disconnect between management's goals and Rex's. Rex wanted Vick to start; because he believes, correctly, that he gives us the best chance to win. Management wants Geno to start; so they can give him one last chance to show something, but how can you evaluate a quarterback if he only throws thirteen passes in an entire game?
He said he is comfortable with Sith and Vick, she shortened it to comfy to fit due to the twitter character count.
I think this off season the Jets need to do what it takes to get Bradford from the Rams. It could be risky but if he could stay healthy you could have a top 15 QB.
