Enjoying your "Jet family," time spent away from your real family (wife, kids, etc.), is fine if that's your cup of tea. If it's time away from them that turns you on, go for it. And times 2 is quite affordable, as you say. I've got 4 tickets, always did. And my Jet family is my family. Now we have grandkids and we'll be able to take them too, or maybe my kids (who are now in their mid-thirties) will go with them... whatever. I'm sure between all of us, the tickets will still go to good use. But I'm just ticked off about the entire situation. WinstonBiggs is right, this was never about the fans who loyally attend the games. And that's fine, because it is a business, after all, so Woody can do whatever he wants to do as a business entity, including fail, which is what I hope happens to the ridiculous PSL sales. BTW, your ticket price will jump from $75 to $125 a year from now. And that's just the beginning. Don't think for a minute that Woody is going to let you get away with those cheap introductory ticket prices (and no PSLs) forever. Look for 10% per year on top of that, compounded for the next 20 years.
So is that I dig that you love your family more then I love mine? . That really hurts!!! You just wont give an inch, will you. I talk about the present and you reply to me about the future so I guess that means you have nothing to say. I will take that to mean I am right. I don't blame anyone for being pissed about the new stadium, I feel lucky that I am only one ticket holder, If i had to take 3 others, it would be different for sure. With the non-psl seats if, or when, the tickets go up, I can just give them up since I have no $ invested. You are right, he's gonna get us good since we are not paying the PSL's. The whole thing sucks, they should have just stayed where they are and increase the seats. We shall see what happends, just glad I am staying upstairs. Hopefully we can win one super bowl before I give them up
I fucked up big time here... I read too quickly, and thought you were section 123, or whateve his screen name is. I apologize, and do so ernestly. I thought it was more negative trash from that other section guy who sounds like he's on suicide watch. I retract my statement, and hope my apology is acceptable.
Just think the NYGs fans are paying a grand a seat to sit in what you call the "nosebleed" section. At least us lucky enough to get those seats do not have to pay a grand for them. Do U not think that the NYGs fans also will have the cost of the seats raised years after year. Are know also opting for the "nosebleed" section as U call it if you have the seniority to get in?
Did not mean to imply that at all. Perhaps I should have phrased my point better: The fact that you go to the games without your family (just one other guy) makes it affordable for you (just two tickets), but not for most of us. I know, tough shit. Stop going. Give up your seats then. But for guys like me and IS, and others with 4 seats who enjoyed taking our kids and then maybe a cousin and his wife and/or the next door neighbor or friends, (and now the grandkids), it's going to get expensive... in some cases, obscenely expensive. I'm still going to take my chances with whatever comes my way in the Uppers and see where that takes me, but like you say, the best part about it is we can bail whenever we want to. And yes, I'm a fucking dumpster fire... a 30-yarder full of blazing tires, and I hope to stink up Woody's entire neighborhood if I can. There was nothing wrong with the old stadium.
I doubt ur statement that we will be moving NYG fans out of the UD when the long time fans move from there PSL area to a non PSL area. Signed a UD season tix holder for 44 years
As far as the original point of this thread (going for TO), it was rumored after Jerry Jones cut TO that Dallas did so after considerable thought and counselling and that it was done more for psychological reasons than straight up football reasons. A blame-everyone-else, everyone's-fault-but-mine, narcisistic personality like TO always gets worse with age. Couple that with the fact that he's slowing down and becoming less reliable and the chances of him lashing out at everyone else around him for his failings escalates dramatically in the coming season. He was out of control to begin with, he's going to be totally over the top in ensuing years. The Cowboys figured the timing was right to cut TO, before he really dismantled the locker room in '09. I think it was a good choice for them and all I can say is good luck to the Buffalo Bills. They're going to need it.
I just wrote to the writer of this story: "Seething? Because we didn't want a declining WR who has lost a step in his physical ability and hasn't made up for it in route running, leadership, or maturity? The Jets have two shut down CBs and the ONLY team that didn't stop TO last season was San Fran and they refused to jam him at the line. I know you need something to write about that has something to do with the Jets, but JEEZ - seething? Really? What's next a story about how we need to draft an over-rated QB from USC and over pay him to sit on the bench behind two competent QBs who are already advanced in Schotty's Offensive scheme? WOW - I wish I had your job."
I CAN'T WAIT for that first Buffalo game in which we shut TO down but good. The rantings and ravings are going to be freaking hilarious.
This was my e-mail response. Of course you could shoot holes in it. The Jets will succeed in 2009 not because of Terrell Owens. Thankfully the Jets made the necessary moves so we can stop the TO's of the world instead of trying to play into what the fans and sports columnists want. Our success next season will be linked to our sound ground game, with Leon Washington and Thomas Jones spearheading the attack. We return all five lineman, btw. So our wide outs are below par. I think NYJ already has a budding talent in Dustin Keller, a soft-spoken leader in Jericho Cotchery and we could always use the No. 17 pick in next month's NFL Draft; several speedy, highly succesful college wide outs include Jeremy Maclin, Percy Harvin, Hakeem Nicks, and Kenny Britt of Rutgers. Hmm, a mildy cheaper 22-24 year-old player or a 35-36-year old primadonna? Mr. Rhoden, you want Terrell Owens? The same wide out without a Super Bowl Ring, who failed to make the playoffs a year ago and who also failed to win the Big Ring with the great Bill Parcells? Why subject a ROOKIE coach to TO's antics? And why sign Terrell Owens BEFORE bringing in a starting-caliber quarterback? And haven't you watched enough NFL to known that you don't win with wide receivers; they are a dime a dozen. Ask the Bengals' Carson Palmer, who had two studs in TJ Housh and Chad Johnson. Anyway, when you list TO's stats, they mean nothing when it comes to wins. How many CLUTCH catches does he have compared to BIG drops. I've seen more big drops in recent years...he's worried if the coach called him a play, never is it how do do i beat this double-coverage or exotic zone. That the Jets have a sorry history under several inept owners, general managers, coaches and quarterbacks, doesn't mean ownership should say 'hey, our fans have suffered this long, why not bring a receiver always on ESPN who can sell those coveted psl's.....like either matter. TO is more like Paris Hilton than Jerry Rice. He also needs 15 touches a game or everyone will hear about it afterwards.
I agree. Its all about increasing the worth of the corporation and nothing to do with the partons. I feel bad for everyone that's been a long time season ticket holder that can't get uppers and won't be able to afford PSL's. I am glad that the upper deck will get rid of giant fans that come to jet games and that it will now be long time hard core jet fans.
May I ask what you thinks going to happen. Anyone less then 20 years will probably not be able to sit upstairs... no?
Does that mean that the people around me will actually make some noise instead of sitting on their hands?
This is the third or fourth time you have mentioned this (Giants fans in the Uppers). Is this really so? In all the years, I've only sat in the Uppers a couple of times, so I've never been aware of that. Why the hell would a Giants fan go to a Jets game? I don't get it. But yeah, the Uppers will probably be a real blast now. Everyone who was a die-hard for all these years and who got evicted will be up there. The attendance should be real good and the noise factor as well, not that the noise will mean much seeing as how we're half a mile away from the playing field.
Well if U accept what is in that booklet sent by the NYJs which said if everybody now in the LD & MZ opts for the UD that the UD will be filled up when they hit 83seniority. So if U take that as worse case scenerio then even if some before 83 seniority opt out or buy PSLs that will get U into the 84s. I have another account which is 84 seniority which I expect to lose since I do not think I will qualify for UDs & I do not intend to purchse a PSL.
I am January 1, 1985, so I'm hanging on by my fingernails. That's IF you want to buy into what the Jets have put in their Playbook and IF you want to believe 100% of what the "reps" are telling people when they work the phones. I happen to think they're full of it and using scare tactics to push the earlier people into committing. But if I'm out, I'm out then. I'm tired of worrying about it and I sure as hell can't afford the PSLs nor the ticket prices down below, so whatever happens, happens. Like a lot of other guys have said, for the money, you can always sit back and watch the game on your huge-screen TV. If you want to pick up some tickets occasionally, it won't be a problem. They'll be available just like they're always been... maybe moreso.
