One possible exception to that would be if we hire Harbaugh and he wants final say-so on all personnel decisions. He may be fine with keeping Mac for a year or so if Mac reports to him and he has the ability fire Mac if he doesn't make the right personnel decisions.
I don't think we're going 0-3 over this stretch. Even if we go 2-1, it doesn't change the fact that we need new coaching and management.
Sure, if Harbaugh wants to keep Mac he can keep him. But Harbaugh has to be in charge and have the power to fire Mac anytime he wants.
Before the season, I would have agreed with you 100%, but Gruden's experience in Oakland gives me pause and makes me wonder if we sometimes expect too much from coaches who've been out of the league for a few years. It's an intriguing possibility, but a tough decision.
Jim Harbaugh was a better coach than Gruden, he hasn't been out of the NFL for nearly as long, and he's still coaching. Sure, he might not work out but I trust him more than anyone else.
Yeah, Gruden sort of used the broadcast booth to rewrite history and make himself seem better than he was. When I see Gruden now, why do I think of Prof. Harold Hill in The Music Man?
If we go 0-3, or even 1-2, the billboards and aerial banners will be rolled out. Chris may have been "having fun" up until now, but wait until he sees a tsunami of angry Jets fans revolting. And the fans deserve more, much, much MORE than they've been given. If the Johnsons can't deliver, they need to sell the team to someone who can.
It's not too early to hire a Head of football operations. Start by putting both these bozos on notice and set the stage right for next year.
If we can make enough noise to get Bowles canned, I want to next set our sites on demanding that Chris Johnson livestream every time he signs Bowles checks over the next two years. The fucking idiot who signed that extension deserves the public humiliation.
Harbaugh hasn't been out of coaching, however, just out of the NFL. I think he had enough experience in the NFL that it wouldn't be a problem.
The word "continuity" should be banned from the NFL lexicon, because more stupid decisions and extensions have been made in the name of continuity. Look at the Giants. They're paying a steep price for keeping Jerry Reese for a few too many years in the name of continuity. These idiots have to realize that continuity matters only if you hire the right guys in the first place.
There's no way they will. If they sell, they'll both go back to being anonymous trust-fund doofuses instead of NFL owners.
Correction, they are NFL dumb shit doofuses. It's a disgrace. My heart goes out to all the season ticket holders that have to pay premium dollars for this massive shit show. They should send a collective Cease and Desist petition. Either fix this management cluster fuck or sell the team to someone that knows football. Massive copies to the Commish and his money hungry set of owners.
Evidently the jets brass does not care about wins because they had a chance to get rid of Bowles and they didn't. They will be 0-3 after these next 3 games. Now the bigger question is, will Mini Me Johnson stick to his grand illusion and keep Bowles around another year. I can't take another year of watching this.
That is hilarious. Bowles is less exciting than paint drying. I sure would like to be a fly on the wall to hear Bowles explain his big grand scheme for getting the Jets winning. He should start with his love of punting and field goals.
Continuity, in the Jets lexicon, means continue to maintain the same shit level of performance. It's shameful.
Knowing this organization, Bowles would probably be rewarded with an extension that includes a stake in team ownership if this were to happen.
I don't see Johnson firing Bowles until after the final game. And that's if they continue to suck and there is concern that the darnold investment is not going well. If things are bad, they are 4-12 and darnold is not progressing, I think both Bowles and maccagnan will get fired At least, I would hope so.
