Eh, it's ok. Just my attempt at humor. Although thanks for the input on Chatham. It's making me believe this was a good signing.

There's no comparison at all. Vrabel was a 25 year old unknown who was still learning how to play linebacker after being a DE in college. Chatham is a special teams lifer who tries to give 100% effort to make up for a lack of talent. There's nothing wrong with that as every team needs tough special teams guys like that but Jets fans need to realize that they didn't sign a linebacker. Mangini's telling you as much with the split contract they signed him to.

The biggest difference? Bill Belichick decided that Mike Vrabel could be a great linebacker and got him to come to New England because he told him he would start there and he had plans for him. Bill Belichick decided that Matt Chatham would never be an every down linebacker and told him so which is what caused Chatham to leave. When it comes to defensive players--who's a better judge of talent in the NFL than Belichick?

You're right--no streaker will have the guts to try anything in NY this year!

Incidentally--I saw the film of "the hit" somewhere and he really planted the guy...

It's FA, not the draft. The only really young guys usually available in FA is guys who were busts, who basically no one wants.

edit: I just re-read the last thing you said, umm you pay way way to much attention to the media and the over 30 thing....look at the Pats, and teams all around the league

    hell McGinest is what 34...

Hahahaha...good stuff. Matt Chatham probably saved him from getting an entire bottle of mace sprayed in his eys...oh well

When Mike Ditka was playing (long time ago)...he did the same thing to a fan on the field except he didn't tackle him...he clothes lined him sooooo hard...I have only seen that clip once.

Yeah I understand what you are saying. I am still happy about the signing I was just saying I wish he was a little younger. That's all. Maybe its ok he is 28 since he hasn't played much yet. He hasn't received any wear and tear on his body.

Man, you guys are desperate for Jets news. There's like 8 threads on this guy and he's probably going to end up being a depth player.

Dude, Penny, the pic in your av is okay for maybe posting once in a thread as a joke, but if you keep that naked middle-aged man in your avatar, I'm putting you on my ignore list so I can't see it.

Hahaha...not quite as bad as FootballGod's avatar. The one with the old man's ass in a thong. I still have no idea why he has that as his avatar.

I was just rocking it out for our newest Jet. It's back to the #4 overall pick.

Actually it sounds like the famous Mike Curtis hit. Largely forgotten today, Curtis was one tough SOB as a linebacker for the Colts back in the 60's and 70's. In an early 70's game against Miami, a drunken fan ran on the field and grabbed the ball. As he started to run with it, Curtis clotheslined the guy and knocked him cold. While just leaving the guy on the ground and ignoring him, Curtis picked up the ball and put it back. The guy tried to sue him but the case was thrown out. When asked why he hit the guy so hard, Curtis deadpanned that the guy had the ball and a different color jersey from his.
