Nice summary. I still don't understand why there is a strong Jets faction who have completely WRITTEN OFF the best performance by a young QB in two decades so quickly. Baffling.

At least punt to 17 starts (full season) so we can have an accurate picture. But there's no way watching Mike White to-date you can write him off at this point. Zero.

Agree--JD does have a tall order, but much of this he created. He foolishly took Becton in round 1, when there was a better and safer OL on the board. Then he convinced himself at Zach's pro day that Zach was an NFL- ready QB, when he could have traded down for a bonanza. Yes, he has made some great moves, but his first two number 1 picks were nothing short of a disaster.

Let's cast Zach aside, and focus on OLine for a second. Becton over Wirfs was a huge miss. AVT looked like a major hit until he was out of the year too. I hope this was a one time thing, but his durability is in question due to severity of this injury. Then here comes the fun part. We had Morgan Moses as a RT already on the roster, but chose Fant over him. Fant has been injury prone and played like garbage when he wasn't injured. Moses in the meantime took a small contract to be a starter elsewhere, played every game, and is rated as top 10 T by PFF. That is a little hard to swallow. Signed Laken, which looked like a sure thing, but he busted. Another one tough to swallow.

If you look at the current unit, it is basically all expensive day 1 starters, aside from Herbig. And it still sucks. What's amazing is that old injured Duane Brown actually played the best of anyone on OLine lately: https://jetsxfactor.com/2022/12/26/jets-offensive-line-culprit-losing/ . Still worse than last year, but given the injury and age, decline is not unexpected. But why do others underperforming to the point Mike and Zach could not even run play action, since pass rush is there too quickly? In the last 4 games, they sucked for 4 different QBs, so before we bring up Zach again as has been popular here to blame for anything, there is that. Could it have something do with coaching? How can all Pro Guard Laken play like total scrub all of the sudden? John Benton was his coach in San Fran too. Fant got worse. Even CMG, a steady player, got worse. Herbig started well, but got worse. This is really puzzling and needs to be fixed quickly. I am not sure it can though.

What I have seen is MLF scheme is nothing like Shanahan’s. His brother in GB doesn’t run the ball either. How much different is the running scheme from SF?
