Of course his runn9ing game was a lot more productive then it is now. Even then when greene went down Sanchez was done for against INDY in a DOME! So far he has only beaten Cincy with another California golden Boy at QB in cold weather. not too impressive.
How are the Jets a win now team? Your whole post was like one of those ridiculous talk show caller baseball trade proposals you hear when Steve Sommers is on.
How is it not impressive? You want him to beat the 07 Patriots on the road in January in 20 degree weather? What in the hell could possibly impressive to you in his rookie season with 16 starts in college and less than 35 starts in the NCAA and NFL combined and not known for playing in frigid conditions? How the hell is that "not too impressive"? The odds were against him and he stepped up and produced with the pressure of the playoffs and playing on the road in freezing conditions. It wasn't too warm in SD either. Don't sell him short because your pissed he's played poorly over the last few games.
70% of our fanbase and 95% of other team's fanbase assume we are a win now team because we have Jason Taylor, LT, and a few guys who need to be signed. They completely overlook all the youth and talent on the roster.
I agree with you. He scares me too. And he has NOT been a very good QB for most of the year. He won 3 games with great passes but stuck for most of those games. Its time we face the truth.
These past 2 weeks are the reason why everyone was bitching about not playing well in the first part of the season....coz eventually poor play will bite you in the ass...unless we sort it out (which i think we can) we will be in trouble...
ND, I respect you as a poster, but I'm growing tired of this bullshit argument. I recognize the fact that he played a good game in the brutal cold @ Cincy in the postseason last year, but that's been the exception, not the norm. You can't just tout one good game in the cold and then cover your ears when people bring up countless other suck-ass ones. It doesn't work that way. Let's go to the numbers. What I did was compile a random sampling of cold and warm weather statistics from 2009 and 2010 for Sanchez. For the record, the Cold games used were: Cincy 2009, @ Cincy 2009, @ NE 2010, and Miami 2010. The Warm games used were: @ Oakland 2009, @ SD 2009, @ IND 2009 (post-season), and @ Detroit 2010. I chose these games because of the similarities in run/pass breakdowns so the numbers are as accurate of a depiction as we have. Cold Weather: Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Rate 54 108 50% 625 11.6 1 4 68.9 Warm Weather: Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Rate 60 108 56% 836 13.9 5 3 85.8 It's not difficult to see that when the mercury drops, Sanchez goes into his shell and the offense goes into hibernation. You can even see it in his body language. When he was on camera on the sideline during that cold, miserable Miami game it looked like he wanted to be ANYWHERE but there. Unfortunately, if that's the case, I think he is playing in the wrong city.
So two back to back games last year become the exception because of two back to back games this year? And half those warm games were in a Dome with zero weather. Those are a different category all together. Its not exactly apples to apples. The run games with those cold weather game comparisons last year were much better than the run game this year, aiding in the types of throws he had to complete, especially last week, where he faced too many 3rd and longs that hurt his completion %. Who in their right mind makes a struggling QB throw 15 yard out routes? The throws were much more simple in colder conditions last year against Cincy. Numbers don't solve this debate. I could say that in the colder games as a rookie, his numbers were better. These two games the entire offense didn't play well. Its easy to see the glaring difference in the two sets of cold weather games. Of course he's going to play better in the warm weather games you chose, when the entire offense is clicking. Has he played well the last two games? No. But I'm not going to let those two games be the judgment passed on him not being a cold weather QB. I'll compromise and say the jury is still out, but I disagree on him being incapable of playing in cold or bad weather.
You forgot to mention he was bad in Cincy as well the week before. The special teams/running game won that game for him. 3 horrible games in a row in the cold. This kid has his work cut out for him the next 2 weeks. The next 2 weeks he can really shut up all the doubters if he plays decent.
Come on, it was like 53 degrees on Sunday. I realize his numbers have tailed off in the cold weather games (he's played so many in his long career) but last Sunday's game is the wrong example to back up your point with.
