Its funny ....whatever your job and profession in life is if there was another company offering you triple what you make people act like they would say "no chance" and stay at there job for lower pay .

I could see Byron getting something similar to what Verner got from the Bucs. My favorite corner in this years free agent class without a doubt. Also, I don't see Bowles and Maccagnan feeling obligated to start guys like Milliner and Pryor this season. I have a feeling that training camp will be an absolute war this year.

Definitely wouldn't mind DT in green and white! I firmly believe DT staying in Denver is contingent upon Peyton returning, and after that performance, Peyton looks like he may call it a career. With that said, I think if DT hits the open market we have a good shot at signing him.

Well, I think that depends upon what you mean by "core." As far as I'm concerned, the Jets have some young "core"-type players in Wilk, Richardson, Snacks, Davis and possibly Pryor and Amaro. There are some other older good players like Mangold, Decker, Brick(?), Ivory, Douzable, and maybe 1-2 others. The rest are either younger or older players who are more or less complimentary players, some so young (like Dozier) that we don't know what we have yet, and some who are just role-player types. Aside from Wilk and Richardson, I don't think that any of the players are untouchable or irreplaceable. From that vantage point, I understand where you're coming from and by and large agree. Others may feel like there are more players who are irreplaceable.

I agree that Cro should be brought back, and would like to see someone like Jackson or Maxwell signed as well, but there are some pretty good CBs in the draft. It's hard to know what Big Mac will do, but will be interesting. As with everything else, I'm certain that some people will be wildly unhappy no matter what he does.

Richardson is the only untouchable IMO. I'm tempted to include Ivory and Mangold but the position played and age respectively make them expendable when push comes to shove.

Dexter McDougle? Please. I was hoping Rex would take McDougle, Clyde Gates, Garrett McIntyre and Willie Colon with him to Buffalo--4 guys that Rex was always talking up who would not make any other NFL roster.

What are you talking about? No one knows if McDougle is any good since he has been injured for the entirety of his professional career.

That doesn't mean a healthy McDougle is a worthless McDougle, however.

How could you possibly know what McDougle can or can not do in the NFL? It would be beyond idiotic to let him walk without giving this hard working and talented rookie a chance to show it on the field. He was injured in practice while giving it all, and was looking promising too before he got hurt.

Maybe we could trade 2014 draft classes. Their 7 in exchange for our 12?

Whatever the solution, whether FA or draft, you can't count on Milliner and McDougle.

Milliner is always injured and when he's on the field he's typically getting burned deep down the sideline.

We have no clue what McDougle can do until we get a chance to see him play. The guy is more likely to be arena league fodder in 2 years than a serviceable NFL defensive back.

Supposedly, one of Bowles' big selling points is his ability to work with what he has. Based on that I wouldn't be quick to conclude that he needs a #1 CB in order to run the type of defense he wants to run. If that is the case, Woody just hired an African American and quieter version of Rex. Maybe the reason why he brought so much pressure and left his CBs on an island in AZ was because he was gameplanning around his personnel. AZ had a lot of injuries in their front 7; the back 4 was the strength of the team. As it stands right now, it's the opposite here. If the roster doesn't change much, he'll definitely have display that touted resourcefulness and adaptability next season.

He blitzed 50% of the time. He will want to blitz here as well, as he believes in an aggressive philosophy (as do i).

Get him the resources to do what he does best.
Let's not make the same mistake as last year, and instead make the secondary a point of emphasis this offseason.

Nicely said. That could very well be. He has far exceeded expectations with Arizona's D.

I think in the final analysis for us to be a winner in our division we need a defense that can do 2 things: slow BRADY down by putting massive pressure on him and have LB that can cover Gronk. No easy tasks but we should continue to build our D, while protecting the talent we have, with faster LBs a true FS and yes a cover CB at somepoint

Yes, I am uninformed and clueless. Which is why I know that getting 2 CBs that are as good as Cro or better is a waste of a resources. Football teams win or lose by the QB. If you can protect the QB or get to the QB, you're changing the game. You are not changing the game by shutting down a WR. It's the same reason we were correct in trading Revis. I don't care what kind of scheme you can run, a run-of-the-mill CB will be just fine if you can get pressure on the QB. It's as simple as that. But yes, you are still correct, I am the uninformed and clueless one who doesn't want to waste valuable cap space on luxury positions on a 4-12 team. You want to get 1? Fine. I'll accept that we should get another. But two guys that are at Cro's level or better is just stupid...oh and uninformed and clueless.

And gotta love the "if you watched any games last season" argument. Weird. I post on a message board about the Jets. I thought we all watched all the games. Only some of us understand what it takes to succeed though after reading your terrible suggestion.

I agree that the secondary needs to be a point of emphasis but I'm not going to give Bowles a pass if it's not addressed. Especially since he's been touted as the anti Rex who develops schemes around his players and not a guy that forces players to do things they are not capable of doing.

So what your saying is that you want the same situation as 2 years ago. 1 decent CB and 1 field day waiting to happen. Your okay with Milliner penciled in as the day 1 starter? That's crazy the guy has played 2 good games his entire career and is coming off a ridiculously tough injury. Pushing him will either cause him another injury or mess up his already struggling development. McDougle hasn't played a single snap and given his history he may not. Williams was a spark plug but let's not act like he's Richard Sherman he will need to earn his roster spot. As we've all seen the last 6 years we can't expect a rookie to come in and start. So on my count going into free agency we have 0 guys we can count on. There is no reason not to bring in at least 2.

I think talent level dictates the bold not the fact they are rookies.
