Two more early warning signs: 1) McGovern and Van Roten are reincarnating the greatness of Cadigan and Criswell, while inching their way towards Keyshawn's rookie year press and locker room skills. 2) They are INCREDIBLY undisciplined. Some of the worst penalties a Jet team has been awarded. And we're probably tops in league history in that dept.
Actually we are the 4th worst. it goes bears, saints, jags, and then us. The bears had 1 net passing yard last week. Not that it excuses it but we aren't last at all let alone by a wide margin. We are also only 3 games in with a rookie QB, rookie HC, rookie OC, rookie LG, Rookie WR, and rookie RB on offense. that's a lot of inexperience. They will all get better as the season goes on. not to mention moore and AVT barely had an offseason due to injuries and becton out. We have to have a little patience. Alot of the o-line woes have mostly been AVT learning, GVR being bad, and Bad communication. not to mention poor jobs by the RBs as extra protectors. this site actually ranks us 22nd right https://www.theundroppables.com/rankings/offensive-line/ give it some time is all i'm saying.
So far I have seen at least one jet sweep against Carolina that had no prayer of working and one screen against Denver where the defense sniffed it out so fast that there were 3 unblocked defenders standing there waiting for the back.
I think the reason I'm disappointed is how lost Wilson has looked these past two games. I know the argument is Lawrence has bad numbers to, but he has shown the ability to lead his offense downfield and he looks like he belongs on an NFL field. Showing special throws, good running the ball and looks poised. Zach has been very inaccurate, telegraphing his WR's and looks surprisingly unathletic when he is looking to run. He just hasn't impressed me and so far looks like he is going to struggle with the jump from BYU to the NFL competition. At this point we are married to Wilson for at least 2-3 years so love the one you're with for now and hope he transitions
Look back at the 2019 Dolphins. They got DESTROYED in their 1st 4 games and lost their 1st 7 overall. They were the joke of the league. By the end of that season, they were respectable. If the Jets can do that, they will be in great shape for next season. AND they'll have another haul of draft picks and free agent signings next season.
How pathetic is it that the OC cannot even understand that he is the problem, not the players? It's up to him to produce a game plan that the players can execute, not the other way around. How about challenging the other coaches and yourself to make a game plan suited to the resources you have, Mike?
This is one of the youngest Jets teams ever fielded and the refs are a flag parade in every game this season, and still missing the calls that matter most of the time. The flags I expected.
Losing more than half of our games was probably to be expected. Losing all of our games in horrible fashion as our offense does nothing is another story. It is clear now why we went so heavy on offense in the draft but we are still much, much worse than we were last year.
This site suggests all three of opponents have had top 5 defenses. https://www.footballdb.com/stats/teamstat.html?group=d&cat=t To some degree, those stats reflect poor production by the Jets, but these are still top-performing defenses through three games. If that is accurate, then we probably need to see how we do against a broader spectrum of defenses before drawing broader conclusions. It would be surprising if, as the new CS/players/scheme get more time, and as they face more average defenses, the numbers don't improve.
sure it's 1 thing to make jokes and memes. another to want to replace zach and the coaching staff 3 games in
A lot of very valid points here. From my perspective, we are all so sick of the crap we've watched over the last 9 or 10 years that it may have jaded our sense of reality. I actually half expected us to come out and be competitive since this is an NFL team, or is supposed to be anyway. The fact is, we have been less than competitive. All 3 games we've played so far were decided before the end of the first half. Had we lost 24-16 in Denver, nobody would have said a word. We all know that we weren't going to be a playoff team this year, but that is not an excuse to not bother to show up to compete, and that is the crux of the issue here, and why everyone is scream fire this one, fire that one. Also, I keep harping on the Mims thing. Kid's a player. We've seen it. Last season, PS, game 1. I don't know or care what the CS's problem is, we have a rookie QB who needs any and all talented players around him and sitting someone like this out over semantics is beyond ridiculous. I hope Mims plays Sunday and plays well to stick it up all of their asses. Also, when did Marcus Maye get injured? Is this a Salah / JD ploy to trade a talented player rather then pay him? In closing, I just want to say I have zero faith in this CS and FO up to now. Nothing has changed within this organization because they say it did. Show us something has changed. Go out and be competitive at least. Last week was as bad a Jet performance as I believe I have ever seen in 45+ years watching them.
