The reason why the FO liked Hunter was because he played well for the Jets after Woody went down. He played particularly well in the regular season game in Pittsburgh against Woodley and Harrison.
Other than his tipping off a pass play in the AFCCG he played decent in that one as well. He played well against Chicago, Pitt, @NE, and when needed @IND. It was that period of performance that steered the FO to go with him, and how could you blame them? He didn't look like this during the most important games of the season last year.
If a few good games got him the starting job, several absolutely horrible games should get his ass gone. Just about anyone would be better at this point.
It is ridiculous how much better he played at the end of last year than what he is doing now. I wonder if he is out of shape from no off season and being up there in years just couldnt get his game back. He is crazy bad.
I was briefly watching the night game, and I saw there is a guy who was cut by the chiefs a couple weeks ago and now he is starting on San Diego, could we not pick him up? Im pretty sure he was a tackle.
They were talking about how SD was totally psyched to have gotten him - didn't sound like they were going to turn around and let him go to another team...
I agree that his performance this year and Ducasse's suckage makes RT a priority after this season even if Hunter gets it together down the stretch.
Rack it up to a rookie, or near rookie head coach with virtually no experience with offensive lineman. If his own 'experts' are telling him case closed, go get another DB, then that's what he does. Looking forward, Rex (who feeds his 'player needs' to tanny) will be far less likely to overlook an obvious lemon just b/c some head coach wanna be says life is good. The Wayne Hunter fiasco will force Rex to become far more involved in 'the other side of the ball' when he give Tanny his wish list for the upcoming draft(s).
As bad as the "turnstile" is, the OC and the O line coach should have used a tight end or even Conner to back him up. Who needs the extra WR's/TE if the QB doesn't have time to throw the ball b/c he's laying on his back! Poor coaching effort by too many people.
I dont mind Hunter as a backup but we fucking need help on the right side of our line Even Moore has his moments
Moore has been tremendous lately, I don't know what you are watching. He started slow due to offseason surgery, but he's been great this year. One of the best guards in the NFL. Hunter is absolutely atrocious though. He was a fine backup when he was making the minimum salary, but now that they gave him a real contract, he has to be cut. Can't have a backup make that much money, and you can't have a starter be that fucking awful of a player.
THIS! part of the reason why hunter looked so good last year is that we were helping him a lot by chipping his man against the eagles, we gave him no help ... most of the screens we ran were away from his side instead of attacking babins aggressiveness this offensive staff is terrible at making adjustments
yep, I kept thinking that during the game..... a few times assuming Keller would bump him with a chip off the line, but instead just takes off to his route, Hunter gets toasted and Sanchez gets either hurried, hit or pounded.... again
Abdul----if we release Hunter--Duchasse might play more UGH!!!! Both these guys should be on our bench or better yet someone elses bench!
