Namath is a douchebag who does nothing but talk shit about the Jets in his old age. Would you ever see Chrebet doing something like that? He might not have a title or HOF credentials, but at least he has class.

I wish Joe Namath would only say nice things about the Jets and bake apple pies and give them away to fans for free at games.

So do you think it's OK for Namath to do nothing but criticize his own team? Through the media no less?

I'm sorry, but when you're practically synonymous with the jets like Joe is, you do nothing but invite negative attention to the organization by constantly bring critical of it. In the last several years, Namath has done nothing to support the team outside of being a passive aggressive blowhard, hiding behind the veil of realism when he's really just a pessimist. He's an embarrassment and drunken degenerate who is desperate for attention and holds zero appreciation for what Rex and tannenbaum have done to revive the jets organization.

If you're a fan that wishes to be critical thats one thing, but when youre the flagship personality of the Jets organization, you need to show a little class and tact. Unfortunately it has become clear that Namath lacks either in his old age.

Would it help if the head coach had class?

My family and I met Wayne last year at a promotion run by the NFL/Proctor & Gamble...we were fortunate to be able to spend several hours with him, he is down-to-earth great guy, he was one of my favorite all-time players & meeting him solidified my impression that he is one of the All-Time Jets!

I do not see a problem with it either. Jim Brown trashes the Browns all the time when they do dumb stuff. That's what you want: your elder-statesman challenging the team to get better. You don't want a team mascot ball-washing every move they make. Both players have HOF credentials. You have to listen to what they say, even if you don't want to.

''Chrebet was amazing. I don't think anybody ever did more with less. 5'8.5" (yeah that's what he played at, 5'10" my ass) and what was probably a 4.65 40 (yeah the answer has been 4.53 but Chrebet was never timed at the combine because he was not invited to the combine and every other metric about the man has been exaggerated in his favor.)

580 receptions by a guy who couldn't even get into training camp his first day as a walk-on because the seasoned security guards there who had seen it all could not believe he was a football player. That's a great football player. ''

How does Wes Welker compare. I really liked Chrebet as a player and was happy when BB stole Welker from Miami as I thought "we now have a Chrebet" type of player. Guys like those two make the NFL great!

Are you crazy? Namath wants success for this franchise more than YOU do. I happen to agree with most of what he says. Not all of it, but most. He earned that right to be the spokesman and get asked the questions - the way players who've come afterwards haven't earned yet.

Always glad to see another fool who has no idea what they are talking about..if you want to compare their first 8 years as Toon couldn't last longer than that then Chrebet had as many yards and 8 more TDs playing out of the slot..want to rethink that idiot statement?

A nice guy, but WAY over rated. Keyshawn was right. Chrebet dropped a ton of big passes.

Got news for you, I'm well OVER 40, and Wayne Chrebet is my favorite Jet player of all time.....

....and always will be because Wayne Chrebet is what a Jet is SUPPOSED to be.

it should say ask any white guy who is too slow and too short and his favorite jet is wayne chrebet... i might add that they also think he would have been as good as jerry rice if it werent for vinny testaverde and concussions.
