Keyshawn has a ring!! What's Chrebet got? What did he win? Am I missing something here? I think the sack exchange is bigger than chrebet! Must be one of those urban legend things like Chuck "freakin" Norris..lol!

Chrebet's got "came out of nowhere as an undrafted free agent to catch 580 balls in the NFL and see his team go from terrible to the AFC championship game." That's what he's got.

If you didn't see him play you wouldn't really understand, because lots of guys have put up the kind of numbers that he did. 99% of those guys would have gone to the Hall of Fame if they had his heart and football smarts.

To this day, I still would take Wayne over that pampered, powder puff pussy, Keyshawn.

The problem with Keyshawn was he had to be the center of attention. It was that need to always be in the spotlight that eventually got him shown the door. Chrebet was happy just being a part of a winning team.

When Chrebet got under Keyshawn's skin it wasn't by saying stuff and acting out, it was just by playing well on the field. That's a clue as to Keyshawn's Hall of Fame chances. Watching a guy do well next to him bothered him. That's not a Superstar's reaction to friendly competition.

As a lifelong New Englander and a fan of both the Patriots and Red Sox, Chrebet is in the same category as Jeter for me.

Can't dislike either guy, and have/had a tremendous amount of respect for both of them.

  6. Chrebet was a tough, hard nosed clutch warrior. Not a hall of famer, not even a consistent pro bowler for that matter. But he does represent what the Jets as an organization is about on the field when they are at their best. Tough, physical, smart & clutch.

One of the best 3rd down slot receivers of all time.

A Patriots/Sox fan admiring a short, slow, scrappy, overachieving white guy? I say the millenium has come!

Why does it matter what his ethnicity is? Is it because I'm from New England, so therefore I must be a racist?

Or am I mistaking a simple joke for the usual GG angry hostility?

There are 22 starting players on a football team. To think that a slot receiver's abilities can take a team to a title is asinine. To think Keyshawn was THE difference to the Buccaneers title is just as asinine.

In fact, I've always considered the "titles" argument to define careers in team sports to be ridiculous. Many of the best athletes in sports retired championship-less. Many crappy players retired with rings.

Man, I love me some Wayne....but I always considered C-Mart the heart and soul--The prime example of what a Jet should be.

I loved Chrebet, but he's no Hall of Famer. Heart and soul does not get you into the Hall, stats do. His biggest failure (for me) was getting the ball into the endzone, but you can attribute that to piss poor QB personnel over the years.

I'll never forget the guy. He was exciting. It would have been nice to see him with a ring. He was so close in '98.

Joe Namath has to be the guy. I just don't get how it could be anyone else in terms of being the one who brought the title. It has to be JWN. Once you win a title, you're a legend forever. Unless you're Trent Dilfer, I guess.
