The difference here, of course, would be that most teams (read: everybody but the Patriots) uses their backup QB to relay THEIR signals. According to the article there was a QB on New England in 2000 at least who relayed the OTHER team's signals to Bledsoe. I think the idea that Cassell was drafted to be the signal relay guy has a lot of potential to it. I hope Specter calls him as a witness. Would be very interesting to see whether he testified or took the 5th.
I don't think that the idea the Pats look for players who are able to relay signals to be too far-fetched. I also don't think it's too far-fetched to assume that Tom Brady was drafted to be Drew Bledsoe's signal relay guy.
You know, I love how all these Patriots fans can sit and laugh at these stories as being so far-fetched and what not. I agree. Some of them do sound a bit out there. This is why I can't wait to the day when they hold Congressional Hearings on this thing and finally bring in Belicheat, Brady, Bledsoe, Cassel, Walsh, Crennel, Mangini, Daboll, Patriots Video Team 2000-2007, Kraft, etc, and puts them in front of a panel which has the power to put people in JAIL for a few years if they lie under oath. We'll see then how many people are willing to stand behind their glorified coach then. They (Patriots & Fans) think everything is over and done with, but when faced with those consequences, I bet you'll start hearing people sing to a different tune.
He wouldn't need to do either, unlike steroids which are illegal, cheating is not illegal and as such Specter couldn't compell testimony with supoenas, all he could do would be to request players and coaches talk to him, they could say no and he couldn't do anything about it. Only Leahy has the power as Judiciary committee chairman to open an official investigation, which he won't. Specter is a lot of hot air, no other senators have shown any interest in the matter, Specter just likes to be on tv and cash in on the publicity with his constituents, not to mention one of hid big donors in comcast. He knows he won't get hearings.
