Lousy playcalling in the RZ. So far no surprises. Petty looks like a Qb that doesn't play often, the offense looks out of synch, the defense looks almost gassed, Bowles looks disgusted and Morton is up in the skybox.

First pick off a deflection. Not Petty's fault. Could have been a PI.

Just finished watching the game. Petty looked like a Qb that needs to play to get better. I didn't see some Tebowesque performance today. Passes knocked down, Oline once again coming up shaky, very conservative game plan. I think it may take more than one game or three for that matter but Petty won't get more than that here.

Seems to me Petty just needs to move on from the Jets and get into a system more suited to his downfield game with a better oline.

Petty at this point in his career just isn't a good fit for the WCO. Petty didn't look great today, but he certainly isn't the worst Qb ever to wear a Jets uniform. He'll get better the more he plays. This is eerily similar to his idol's career trajectory.

I still think the big hold up is that the Oline cannot give him enough time for plays to develop downfield. The coaches know it, so they don't call those plays. The other coaches know that, so they don't bother trying to defend it and just send bodies after the QB.

The only way to get out of that vicious cycle is for Petty move around a little and buy some time, and for somebody to get down field and burn the defense.

It didn't help that the Titans/49ers game came on immediately after the Jets game here, and I got to see how much better Garropolo looked than Petty with an even worse supporting cast.

It was really strange with all the batted passes. For the most part, the pocket collasped in roughly 3secs which as you said, isn't enough time to get a guy open down field. When the pocket held and was reasonably clean, we saw Petty can do major damage attacking downfield. Once he gets his short game working, he'll be fine. Too bad he'll be in another uniform when that happens.

I kind of agree. I still think Bryce Petty can play in the NFL. As a fan of his it was a bit dismaying to see him clunk 4 or 5 short/easy throws but for somebody with his skill I really think that crap can be totally cleaned up with time.

Some of these beautiful pinpoint long passes that he's obviously capable of making can't be taught. So he's got what should be the hard part already. I also like his body language and "look" In the other thread somebody was on him for laughing at Forte after he threw a bad pass at him but I didn't mind that. I took it like him saying "that's on me" but it isn't going to phase me in the least.... I'll throw it better next time. He's tough and mobile.... good arm. I don't know if he'll ever put it all together but he looks the part to me.

Garropolo had Brady as his mentor. If "mentoring" matters, Garropolo was much better prepped than Petty who had Fitz for 2 years and McCown for one.

That'd just be a kick in the groin if the Jets dump Petty and the Pats suck him up and develop him into something effective.

Us he'd develop really well in Patriot land, considering he'd never play, Brady can easily play another 5 years, he'll Brady could play another 20 and still not be as bad as Petty is
