Now THAT would be a hilarious twist! It's true that people are more likely to believe the anon stories that support their viewpoint. I just despise the media on all accounts and think they are notorious for intentionally stirring the pot to get reactions out of fans and website hits. You gotta take every story with a grain of salt, whether good or bad.

How is this even a debate right now? He landed the best QB available, the best RB available and the 2nd best WR available (the best at the time). If you didn't like the way he went about it, that's your problem and you should feel dumb about it. The fact is, the results are there.
And the Jets turn a page, from a bad luck-driven process (trading up and consolidating picks) to a luck-driven process (making as many picks as you reasonably can and sorting out the wheat from the chaff).

I liked the Decker signing, and Johnson, if he's not gotten too slow, should be an excellent match with Ivory, adding a pass catching capability at RB that the Jets did not have since LT tailed off. I still don't get how signing Vick helps in the medium term, but the upside of his signing is that if they fill enough other holes, Vick could make the Jets a playoff contender right now. So those are the positives. At RT, we have a wash at best, but imo Oakland overpaid for Howard. The negatives include letting Cro go without replacing him. This leaves a big hole at Cb when the safeties are already average at best (really somewhat below average). As a result the Jets have to choose from among going with a high pick at Cb, trade for one, or risk having another year of below average performance by the secondary. It also means the Jets can't upgrade both safety and Cb without putting off attention for the offense. Not signing Jackson was also another lost opportunity to fill holes before the draft, but I am not sure how much he would have been interested in the Jets. Add it up and on the eve of the draft I give Idzik so far a C-. If I was more of a homer, I guess I would give him a C. He can still do enough in the remainder of the off season to raise that, of course. I hope he does, because this could have been, and still might be, a playoff year.
For what it's worth, I voted "Not sure yet" when this was posted, but would eagerly change to "Yes" if given the chance after what he has done to this point. Before DJax was released, you could argue he signed the best available WR and QB available, and now with CJ in the fold, the best available RB as well, all with very reasonable contracts.
Agreed. Plus last year he drafted the best available corner, best available QB and best available DT (who became defensive rookie of the year) and our record improved by 2 games despite losing multiple pro bowlers and having almost no money to spend. So far I like his approach because he isn't making big splashes, he's playing it safe rather than over paying, which is the right philosophy. Next year he's going to have even more to spend in FA, so it should be interesting. I think he's doing a great job thus far, but it will really take another year and change before we REALLY know how it turns out. I see us following a very similar plan as the Seahawks 3-4 years ago. The only thing I didn't agree with so far is not paying Mo Wilks this year but that could still happen, and low balling DRC so badly that it was pointless to even bring him in. Generally, I think his approach is spot on. Don't overpay out of desperation. Bring in guys with high upside. Build through the draft. If guys won't take your offer, let them walk.
