It could also have to do with the fact that it was the only time Thomas ever started an entire season.... You know, since when you don't get the chance to play you obviously aren't going to have a good year. As for Hobson it could be that he just broke out in his second year starting. I don't buy the whole "best season of their careers" thing since between the two of them there was only one full season as a starter to compare it to.
yes I know what the roles are in the different schemes. You just explained exactly why Vilma is a better fit for a 4-3 than a 3-4..
Vilma is going to have a breakout year whether you like it or not Champ...It was his first year in a new system, and he still had a decent year...ill take his talent, determination, and intelligence over an good sized mediocre MLB I cant believe you are still at it....and while im at it, please speak in coherant english so the rest of us can understand what the fuck you are attempting to prove...it was blantantly obvious you said in the beginning of this thread that Harris was too small for the NFL, not Vilma...
Thomas has had plenty of chances to produce and he did not until he was in a scheme that is perfect for his abilities. Hobson, ok maybe he did just break in his second year of starting.. Whats your pont though?? Whatever the reason it was still his first year in the system, which was the original question I responded to. It doesn't really matter if you buy the whole best season of there careers, it is a fact that can't be argued. They did have the best season of their careers..
When talking about a "season", one generally assumes the player started the majority of the games. Hobson has only played one complete season prior to 2006 - therefore he had a 50% chance of having "the best season of his career" Therefore Thomas had a 100% chance to have the best season of his career. The fact is that those are some pretty damn good odds and fairly easy to beat, especially in Thomas' case.
Thomas has been a complete bust since he entered the league. Do you think it is a coincidence that he had the best season of his career the first year in a system that fits his abilities? I don't..
Coincidence? No.... More like there was no possible way he could not have his best season ever. 1) We got rid of Abe, therefore he was the new starter There really is no #2. Whether we stayed in the 4-3 or made the switch that we did, he was going to have the best season of his career.
He started alot of games in Abes absense over the years. In 4 years before 06 he had 6 sacks total. 06 in his first year in a scheme he is perfect for he had 8.5.. The original question was.. "Name one of the front 7 that had a "stellar" year in the new D." I named two, what exactly are you arguing?
I'm arguing that there may be a reason other than scheme that lead to their success. Or are other opinions just inherently wrong because you said so? What I'm basically trying to say is, if someone has never done something before then they are obviously going to do it better than they ever have.

I told you it was going to be a waste of time as there was no way they would keep an archive from three years ago.
So instead of pussy footing around for 3 years if it meant so much for you to hear it you should have done then what you did now
Am I missing something here or did not Thomas & Rhodes have decent years in there same 1st year in the new system?
He is full of crap. I listen to WQAM all the time and never heard Coker ever mention anything disparaging about Vilma. ***For the illiterate disparaging means negative remark. (You know who you are!)***
Get with the program it was right after he was drafted & you were not even a member yet. Maybe also you missed that interview because I am sure you do not listen to any radio station 24/7
If he's too small how come he won DROY? We all know the media hates the Jets and will do anything to avoid giving a jets player recognition beyond being "underrated". So how come Vilma was voted DROY, was a pro bowler last year, (yes he was an alternate but if he's as bad as you say, he wouldnt have been even CLOSE to getting that), and has such impressive stats(sure a guy who is too small isnt capable of over 100 tackles a year in the NFL!)
He only went to the Pro Bowl because Zach opted not to go. Awards DO NOT always translate into productiveness & right now JV is a VERY UNPRODUCTIVE player no matter how you choose to slice or dice it. For us to win SBs we need PRODUCTIVE players & presently JV is many, many miles from falling into that catagory
Would you say Teddi Bruschi was a productive MLB last season? What about Bryan Cox when he was on the Jets?
I also do not quote and use sources that I can not verify. When it is my opinion I use the letters IMO.................. So get with the program.
