Oh wow, definitely misunderstood what I was saying. I didn't mean that Rutgers was hand picking kids from the Philly area, I'm just saying that they are getting their share of the mediocre level guys when they go looking there for them. Rutgers has a ways to go before they're competing with anything resembling a top program when it comes to hand picking guys, but they have success getting the secondary types that the bigger schools overlook. The top kids will 90% of the time go big time over RU, no matter where they're from, but for the players that RU usually gets they have success in the area. Savage is the big namer, but a lot of their quality players are lower level recruits from So. Jersey.

I think 'Nova joining Big East is tied to the TCU deal. I believe it's a "we'll join if they join" type of situation. I think it'd be great. The BE needs a kick in the ass. Adding a Texas team would certainly do that.

As far as all the "Big East should lose AQ" talk goes, it ain't happening. AQ conferences are guaranteed until 2013-2014. Even then, they have a mathmatical formula to figure out the conference rankings and as bad as they are, the Big East is still ahead of the MWC for 6th. Don't count on or expect the BE to lose it in the near future.

On a side note, I was researching the Big East Bowl record, just to see how they compaired vs the 5 other major conferences, and I found some interesting facts.

The Big East, using current conference affiliation, is 12-6 vs SEC in bowl games, by far the best record of any conferences vs the SEC.

In the past few years, the big East is 17-6 in all bowl games.

Based on current conference affiliation the Big East is 56-56 or .500, better then the Big 12 .485 and Big 10 .488.

I'm not saying the Big East is as competitive as the SEC, but maybe they aren't as bad as everybody thinks. Can't they get a little respect?
