We will never trade back, it's not in Tannebaum's makeup..besides I thought I heard we have 4 comp picks to go along with our normal picks this year.
It depends on which 'Tannenbaum of the past' you are talking about. The Tanny and Mangini connection, with Tannenbaum getting personnel advise from the office across the hall of Terry Bradway, one that ran things not too differently than the Bradyway regime, settling for JAG role players as starters and trying to overachieve their way into the post season. Or the Tannenbaum and Rex connection, with Scott Cohen in his ear, the Tanny that would trade his own daughter's virginity for a guy that Rex considered a game changing playmaker. At the dire cost to roster depth, draft picks and cap space. Tannenbaum's personnel decisions will only ever be as good as his Asst GM.
Trading up, with the current state our roster is in, will kill this team's short term (possibly long-term) future. If Tannenbaum has a problem with trading back, then he should stay put and draft the BPA.
Well, if you like this better I KNOW I saw a chart that showed the Jets getting picks for Edwards, Smith, Ellis and somebody else..fill it in please.
We won't know our situation regarding compensatory picks until late March. So i wouldn't put too much stock into any charts that are currently out there now.
i know the chart well but its certainly the case that higher round picks are going to be more in demand this year and the next few years at least as people see from the cam newton deal that they can sign their (potential) franchise signal caller for a relatively reasonable contract whereas before unless there was an absolute sure thing QB pick people couldn't give that pick away. for the last few years you were worse off picking in the top 5 than picks 6-10 - look what the ridiculous sanchez contract has done for us - the guy is getting paid more than tom brady and aaron rodgers ffs.
I'm not sure he would trade up either but that's a lot of picks and he seems we don't necessarily have 10 open slots to fill.
Why not? I must be having an off year, I'm sure I pissed off enough people to add an star to my battle ribbon.
We have entered a kinder age of TGG, where even the dumbest of dummies isn't allowed to be bullied off the board by recently departed self-esteem-challenged moderators and self-aggrandizing self-professed football wizards. Back then, you just made the grade of TGG-worthy by some. Now you're in the middle-class of intelligence.
Yes, this chart was what the person who provided it was expecting..it had each team, the number of pics, the round and who they would be awarded for.
I think a team like the Vikings might very well decide to let the 3 go for a 1st and a 2nd in 2012 and 2013. They might decided to hold out for a Herschel Walker type package also but that would require a willing sucker on the other end. The 4 for 1 option just requires somebody who really wants RGIII and is willing to make a conditional deal based on him being there on the 3.
