Haha. Your "holier than thou" agrument is laughable. All hail championjets69. He's a season ticket holder since 65, he CAN'T be wrong...
Every QB has a bad game. Peyton's had games where he's thrown a bunch of INT's too. Even Brady. It happens.
NOBODY is the correct answer. If I had to close my eyes & pick one I would say VT was the next most competant. However, as a qualifier there has been NOBODY that had JWN FB smarts, guts, ultra quick release & arm strenght so to even compare any of the others to him is really quite demeaning to JWN IMHO
fuck you joe willie y dont u go to buffalo if u dont want a quarterback u fucking nazi 3 days suspension. Language
Nobody is comparing him to Namath . I agree its a sad history of QBs since Namath but if I had to choose one to lead the Jets I'm taking a healthy Pennington..
So I guess that VT would be #1 on my list then probably followed by CP with eyes closed though then maybe Todd & finally with my eyes deeply shut KOB
No, what I said are FACTS. Peyton has had games with multiple interceptions as has Brady and many, many, MANY other QB's. Namath even had games with multiple INT's. Those can't be argued or disputed. Every QB has them, but you only seem to acknowledge Chad's.
Wow the one thing I realized from this thread is it really has been a sad history for Jets QBs since Namath. I go as far back as the tail end of Todd's career, any Qbs btween Namath and Todd worth talking about??
Pennington can play and he was and still is a great QB. I am going to laugh so hard when all that call him noodle arm and say all of his passes are wounded ducks and to those people that have no faith in him SCREW those people they are not a true Jets fan. A lot of people must have sort-term memory loss. Everyone loved Chad Pennington in 02 and 04 and now everyone forgot that he was the reason we made the playoffs we made the playoffs in the last couple of years and now a lot of people wont give that same QB one more chance.
Todd essientially took over for Namath. He was drafted as the replacement. The only other QB of note was Matt Robinson who won the starting job in 79 I believe, but then Todd took back over and Robinson was traded to Denver.
Ken O'Brien was a very good QB for a number of years. He had the misfortune to play in Dan Marino's division and to have been drafted before Marino in the same draft. I would take Ken O'Brien at his peak over anybody we'll have in camp in August. And it wouldn't be a particularly close competition.
Matt Robinsons clasic. Todd broke his collar bone and Robinson took over and essential won the starting job the following year in training camp. A couple of days before the opener he dislocated his thumb in what was described as a "Thumb Wrestling Incident"
Ah yes, the "not true Jets fan" insult because someone disagrees with you. Very impressive The fact is that you have no idea if Pennington can play and still is a great QB, even if he was one before (which is certainly open to debate), since he hasn't been able to do either of those things since the middle of the 2004 season (yes, the team made the playoffs in 2004, but it was obvious that Pennington was hobbled after his November injury). As far as giving him one more chance, the opinions of people on this board are irrelevant. According to Mangini, he WILL get a chance, because the job is wide open. How can anyone object to that? That means that if he is the best choice for QB he'll start, which should make you happy. That seems to be what almost everyone in this thread is saying, so where is the problem? And to the couple of people who said that they don't see him as a long-term answer at QB any more and would therefore rather he not start at all, the biggest reason why I don't view that as such a big deal is that I don't see the team doing much this year whoever the QB is. Marino is just about the only QB who was successful right out of the box, so expecting much from Clemens is difficult, and while Ramsey might be better than he showed in Washington, he's hardly a savior. IMO, chances are it really won't make that much of a short-term difference who the QB is anyway.
