I'd welcome Vick with open arms hes better than the garbage we've had at QB for the last 5 years. Most importantly our offense might actually become watchable.
I don't believe that anyone who says they wouldn't root for the Jets if they signed Vick isn't a true fan. Of course they're true fans, they're wasting time posting on a Jets message board at the end of February. I also don't believe they wouldn't root for the Jets if we signed him. I think those responses are emotional responses to the idea of a team that they love signing a player they hate. But if they did sign him and he was making plays to help the Jets win I believe they'd be cheering just as loud as everyone else because they are Jets fans. They still wouldn't like Vick, but they'd be happy he was helping the Jets win. I think it would be similar to when we singed Tebow. A lot of us hated him but would have cheered just as loud as we did for any other player if he helped us win.
Everyone keeps saying "He'll know the system". I'm fairly certain that good OC's will cater their "system" to the talent that's available to them. We don't have talent anywhere on the field that compares favorably to the Eagles ( offensively ). I think Vick would have a harder time adjusting to the talent ( or lack their of ) on the squad even if he doesn't have a grasp on some of Marty's concepts.
Vick coming here would be 100x better then that freak Tebow. Vick is coming here to help us win, Tebow was acquired for the entertainment aspect. The whole dog thing (it was wrong I know) it's over with, people need to move on and understand the culture down South.
Personally I'd find it much easier to stomach Vick than Tebow, but I get their are people on the opposite end of the spectrum.

He isn't the threat to run the ball he used to be, and honestly with is fumble rate I am not sure you want him running around as much anymore. My point is if you are trying to teach Geno how to be a better QB ... I am not sure Vick is the choice. As a veteran backup, sure there could be worse ... but people on here are talking about Vick as a starter, and at this point I don't agree with that. I absolutely could be wrong ... happens all the time, just ask my wife and she will happily tell you that. This is just my opinion. (and has nothing to do with the dog thing, he served his time and its time to let it go)
You are correct in the fact it makes no sense bringing in Vick as a backup. If the Jets acquire Vick it will be to start. Who the Jets do or do not bring in at QB says a lot of what they think about Geno in the near term. Going from last year Geno needs to sit and bringing someone in like Vick that you know is not a long term solution gives Geno a chance to develop. With Vicks injury history he will also get a chance to play.
I don't get the negative opinions on Vick's ability to be a backup. Was there something bad about his time as a backup last year or for McNabb that I missed?
I don't know why the assumption seems to be he would be a backup. I think as long as he is healthy, and if he's not healthy why get him even as a backup?, he would easily beat Smith out in camp.
I agree, I'm just talking to the people who seem to think he wouldn't be a good backup in the event that he were for whatever reason.
Sorry if I came accross wrong, but I do not want Vick as a starter for the Jets. As a veteran backup, there could be alot worse. My main point of contention with bringing Vick in would be that he has been a boom or bust type of player - with a poor completion percentage for all but one year of his career and has been very turnover prone. Which for the most part you are going to get from most backup type players. It comes down to what you want in a backup/qb to push Geno. Lets look at the 3 QBs that "reports" have been made about. Vick, Shaub & McCown: Vick and Shaub have each played in 128 games. Vick: 128 tds / 85 ints with a career 56% completion percentage. 21k passing yards and an amazing 5k rushing (38 fumbles) Shaub: 130 tds / 84 ints with a career 64% completion percentage. 24k passing yards and a stunning 350 yards rushing (13 fumbles) td to int ratio is basically a wash between them - vicks rushing yardage is stupid. 25 more turnovers from fumbles though is scary. McCown doesn't really compare to either of them ... basically half the starts over a similar time period - 50td / 45 int - 59% completion percentage. I think McCown could be a servicable backup, but last year he was throwing to a top three receiving group in the NFL. (for shits and giggles - Sanchez is 68td / 69int & 55% completion percentage (oh and 17 fumbles)) Take your pick ... I think I would prefer Shaub coming off the bench, but I could see Vick doing it because he has played for Marty.
I'd be fine with Schaub but I'm not as high on him as others. I think he's more of a product of a great offense and offensive system. Either Vick or Schaub would beat out Geno IMO.

I guess the date is coming up pretty soon when we will know if Sanchez will be here or not and at what price if he is.
I had no problem at all with the character of Tebow. My only problem was his limited abilities at the QB position, and the fact that we gave up a draft pick for him. It was a terrible move for the Jets, but i had no problem really with Tebow himself. the thought of trying to root for Vick makes my stomach churn. I also do not believe in Vick's ability to play the position any longer, and i'm worried we'd end up going into 2014 like we did in 2012......with no viable alternative at QB. i really do not see anything positive about signing Vick.
I think anyone who looks at Vick's numbers under MM would understand why it is logical to bring him here. He started under MM from 2009 to 2012. Here are his numbers: 56.7% 8769 Yards 52 TD 30 INT 89 QBR It is clear that he does well under MM's offense.
