wheres the press release about every athlete in a proffessional sport who played at VT donating money? oh thats right, he's one of the first to do it. ok.

i understand 10k is chump change to him, but you guys would be ignorant to not think theres plenty of alumni and others lining up to contribute, its a fund, as in more than one person donates.

some psycho guns down 32 people on the campus of vicks alma matter so he should instantly pick up the tab for all the funerals?

i guarantee these families will not pay a dime for their funerals.

I would bet that there are others who gave and didn't make a whole press release out of it.

like I said, I'll give him some credit because many don't give at all, but this was really transparent.

no, not really. Press releases aren't created by reporters.

Wow, he sent out $10,000, and we're criticizing. That's pretty nice no matter how you look at it. Wake me up when Kevin Jones, DeAngelo Hall, Marcus Vick, Jimmy Williams, etc do this.

He did this out of his own volition. Just because he's rich, doesn't mean he has to donate. I didn't hear anyone bitching about Vick not donating before he did this. Now we're bitching he should give more? He had absolutely nothing to do with this, and it's not like it's even going to the university, just families of current students he doesn't know.

Exactly, its not too much for him but its still a donation. Before people criticize him please state how much money you make a year and how much you have donated to VT after this. The guy gives money and he gets blasted, I hate him as much as anyone but Im not gonna attack him for the sake of it.

I don't believe anyone should be knocked for doing something out of kindness and generosity - like this. At the same time I find it bad taste to publicize donations of any kind. You give because you feel compelled to, for the right reasons. And trying to make a headline is not one of those good reasons. But that is just me.

Not just you. If you're going to make a public donation to a place that set you up for the rest of your life, at least make it more than chump change. I actually laughed when I saw this donation 'announced'. Send a money order in an unmarked envelope for 10K. If you're insanely rich and want your name on it, there better be X00,000.00 on the check, at least.

:) Humor aside, it's nice of Vick to set a tone of generosity for the families of the victims... but I do think his earrings cost more than his donation.

And the truth is you don't know why he did it, but sounds like a really nice thing to do.

Being that that was my almamata<--- dont know if.. thats how you spell it but i would of donated no less then $300,000.... If i personally had money there would be no doubt to just do it with out a second thought... That would been a touch of class.. To me its like $10,000 is like his night out on the town spending money.... I mean he did contribute and all but was it for the publicity being that his name was kinda in the bad light last couple of years!!!!

I think if that was the case then he should of maybe tryed to consult with all those former players and see if they wanted to put up something as well specially his brother... Yeah he did donate and all but to me he could of done better and that donation is a write off as well $300 G's would of been right back in his pocket and would of show his true character..... $10,000 is a night on the town for him... to me i would of have rather had nothing .... thats like someone you know passing and i come and offer you a dollar.. you would be like man get that out of here.

So if you walk by a homeless man, and you made $50K a year (so $215 would be the equal amount, to use GM and Mantana's terms), it would be better to give nothing than to give him a few bucks because you should give him over $215?

No. $215 is alot of money if you make $50K. When you're absurdly rich you can wipe your ass with $10K. Also... Giving money to some idiot that shit his life away is very different than giving back to the families that made you absurdly rich.

Hey look – Vick Blows but don’t crap on him for the kind gesture.

It might sound cheap but you have to figure…he probably only has about two years of football left until he gets thrown out of the league. He needs to save as much as he can.

Jesus get off his jock. It is not anyone's place to tell him how much he has to send in. He made a nice gesture nothing more and nothing less. This gift was in good taste, it was not like he donated 50 copies of doom.

I'm not a Vick supporter at all, but donating 10K to the families is a nice gesture no matter how you look at it. He shouldn't be criticized for it.
