I wouldn't be so sure about that. The business offices are still going to be in Florham Park - you just might not be anywhere near training camp.
nonsense! did it decrease any coverage of the giants? how did moving camp to albany work out for them? it is a SMART move. both short and long term. first, it helps to build a winning team. second, it helps the jets re-capture the upstate market. as soon as wilson leaves, the bills are sold and moved out of that minor-league city. there is no way you can generate enough cash flow there ( given population and income levels) to support the cash flow/debt load on a purchase that will cost upwards of $700 million. the league will want a team in a much bigger/major league market, whether it's chicago, l.a, san antonio, or maybe even toronto. what do you want to do, cede the upstate ny market to the browns or steelers? i'd move the camp to rochester or syracuse. and, i'd start now. they spend the vast majority of thier time in the new facilities. whining about moving a short training camp is pointless and foolish. besides, if the league drops the number of pre-season games and increases regular season games, you're looking at a shorter period than even now.
i have sent an e-mail to them suggesting they contact the U of R, RIT, and SUNY brockport. each school has loads of students from the nyc area, and since the bills will be gone shortly after wilson leaves, the jets should move now to recapture the market , before the browns and/or steelers do.
no, just try 30 years of local media shilling. thanks to the 1970 imposition of the nfl blackout policy, the bills replaced the jets in the upstate tv market. the giants escaped because they were in the nfc, so their games remained on local tv.
that gave a lot of people who want to root for a championship team a reason to switch to the steelers...... i know fans of the jets, giants, browns, pats, dolphins, chiefs and we all , except for the giant fans, have to buy the ticket from direct tv to escape the constant media shilling for the bills.
i expect them to go much farther away than that. and, yes, i do support the move. finally, at least one person who sees the big picture.
I don't think downstaters understand the problem Mr Jet. They don't understand that it's easier to find a Dolphins jersey then it is to find a Jets jersey in upstate Ny. It's easier to find a 49ers or Bucs jersey then it is to find a Jets jersey. In upstate Ny, the Jets don't exist. Most sports stores will carry everything from jerseys to condoms with Giants and Bills on them, but no Jets stuff. Bring the Jets up here and seize the blue collar folks with a blue collar team. All though I'm upstate, I do feel for you guys. Especially the ones who attend TC every year to watch. But, at least you have the Meadowlands...
I would love if they had training camp at one of those places.. only problem is i don't know if they would go that close to the bills considering all those places are about 15 minutes tops away from where the bills have camp. I wouldn't mind syracuse though. And i also agree that you can't find anything jets related in a lot of stores in upstate NY. There is a ton of bills stuff which i understand, but the giants have just as much merchandise as the bills and their from the same place as the jets. Hopefully this move will attract some new fans from upstate!
the jets get screwed by this EVERYWHERE, here in ct we have to watch the suck ass patriots. yet the giants basically have everything north of philly all to themselves! the fact that this team has moved so terribly far away from everything it has ever been about in the last 5 years is the disgusting part. the team was a queens/long island thing, they moved to the new stadium eons ago but kept their practice facilities, offices and everything else(correct me if im wrong on that!) in long island, they kept the training camp in long island. now they have decided to move everything away from long island, to new jersey so all those people who have supported the team and gone to the tcs for years and years and years would now have to make the same horrible trek they make on gamedays to enjoy tc.... but wait all of a sudden out of nowhere.... they will now have to drive 5 or 8 hours to tc. i have never been to tc, never really needed to go but i have a 2 year old and i think he might enjoy it one day. now it would be less of a drive to go to the patriots training camp than the jets. i dont blame anyone for being pissed about this, i am not necessarily pissed but i can understand why someone would be. those of you who are bitching and complaining about those who are pissed look at it from their point of view. everything that was the jets has been taken from them, at this point they might as well have moved to fuckin LA for somebody living on long island. this isnt their team anymore.
Marist College in Poughkeepsie would be ideal. Its 2 hour train ride from Grand Central on the Metro North. Fits the bill for another posters wish for a good catholic school girl college.
I believe he is referring to the great posters here who would go to camp daily and give us a fan's view on things. Instead of the boring newspaper reports. The reports given were quite good, JetCane I believe was one of the regulars, but there were others just as good.
Cornell university new turf field and enough seating for 27000. Plus the campus and city is whole hell a lot more fun then cortland at
They wouldnt be practicing in the stadium. They need like 2-3 fields in a row, so i doubt the practice fields can seat 27000 people. And I hear Ithaca blows...but in the summer its probably not too bad
