so basically in that video we saw 80% of Turner's career carries? idk he doesn't have too many miles under to warrant tossing out a #2 if Sandiego got a #2 for a guy with 77 career carries and four receptions they'd be stupid not to do this.... and of course the only way i do this deal at all is if turner restructures so he is a jet past this season! and of course no higher than a four for what he has proven in the league thus far
well they do have tomlinson and he's always healthy so its hard to catch passes when you have a guy like tomlinson in front of you. turner started one game (in 04, when tomlinson got hurt) and caught 4 passes in that game so i think he does have good hands. the scouting report says:
To me i only like picking up free agents when they dont make a big name from wherever they're coming from, which is why i dont like Ramsey very much. So this would be perfect imo. Him and Washington look like a great duo.
okay...I should have clarified my point. Why would S.D. trade him to us? and Why would S.D. trade him to us for anything less than a 2nd round pick? Which I feel is way too much to give up for a RB considering the amazing backs that come out in the draft year after year
this is his last year under contract and he isn't going to backup the best running back in football for his entire career... they might want to get rid of him while they can still get something for him.
he is restricted next year so SD pretty much controls his rights for 2 more years if they want to.. I'd love to have Turner but no way am I giving up a 2nd to get him, which would be the minimum..
San Diego depth chart RB- LaDainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, Ray Perkins, Larry Croom, Bryson Sumlin, Tyrone Gross FB- Lorenzo Neal, Andrew Pinnock, Jonathan Evans, Shawn Willis
Restricted free agents are players who have completed three accrued seasons of service and whose contracts have expired. They have received qualifying offers from their old clubs and are free to negotiate with any club until April 21, at which time their rights revert to their original club. If a player accepts an offer from a new club, the old club will have the right to match the offer and retain the player. If the old club elects not to match the offer, it may receive draft-choice compensation depending on the level of the qualifying offer made to the player. we could easily outbid them...
um ok thanks, I've heard of restricted FA before but thanks anyway. We could easily outbid them but like I said SD controls his right because they would have the right to match. And if he is as promising as we all seem to believe than they will give him the highest tender, if not the highest at least the middle tender which would get them a 1st round pick. My point is there is no reason at all to trade him this year from SD perspective..
read the thread again... and like i said, the chargers CANT match our offer. we'd pay him like a starting RB and the chargers just cant do that. its that simple.
It really depends on what SD thinks of him whether we can get him or not but like I said SD controls his rights for this year AND next year ( if they want to) There is no reason at all for SD to trade him this year.
They may not want to match the money we offer but we would still have to give them draft pick compensation based on their tender (like when we received just a first round pick for coles instead of a first and third). Anyway, this would all have to happen next year, at which time I would prefer to draft a guy high....
Good point. If we struggle at RB this season we'll probably have a high draft pick in which to address the issue. Don't burn a 2nd rounder on turner the burner.
uhm why waste/risk a 2nd rounder on a backup-like RB next year when you can get a guy like turner who could step in and get the job done?
I think you misunderstood me, I was commenting on the chances of getting him next year when he is a RFA. Depending on the tender placed on him by SD (which most likely will be high), we would have to give up high draft pick(s) and a lot of money to lure him away. In that scenario, I would most likely look elsewhere. If you could pull off some sort of trade this year, I might be on board depending on the cost....
