I heard somewhere yesterday (Asman?) that this was most likely a conversation between Shanahan and Saleh. Saleh said no, end of story. Was Ulbrich interested? Probably. Wouldn't you be?
it is standard op in professional sports. They put out feelers first to the other organization to tell them there’s a guy they are interested in for one of their openings. It’s not a formal request it’s just letting them know. Often times the team will then go to the guy directly, tell him so&so wants to interview you, it’s up to you, we can ask them to send the request if you want. the guy says no and it ends. The guy says sure and then they can go back to the other team and tell them to formally request it sounds like this never got to the formal request stage for whatever reason and the reporters are speculating if it did the Jets likely would’ve blocked it unless it was for a promotion don’t need to get your panties in a bunch over the reporting, really, everyone was just doing their jobs
Either that or say someone is SF (not Shanahan but some nobody) said something like "we wanted Ulbrich, and of course he would come here, but we know Jets would have said no, so we went with internal guy". Then Blatt publishes this as a "report". But what actually happened? Not a fucking thing.
The only quote I saw was one writer, Alex Smith, quoted another writer, Zach Rosenblatt. Was there another quote?
LOL. The point was that there was no report - it was nothing. Jets "would have never let him go" is a speculative nothing report. It means nothing happened. A BS. I gave an example of what could have happened that was then "reported". Look at the subject line, it's just not what happened. Are people so starved for some hot news that "Jets would have said no" is some credible reporting about Ulbrich wanting to leave but Jets said no. The Jets didn't say no. They weren't even approached. Nothing happened here. And I completely guessed it was Rosenblatt because he had a similar BS report before. Another one where nothing factual happened. He just speculated it "would have" happened. But in fact it didn't. But people buy it I guess - hot news!
No shit. you have a problem with the word "report" now? haha yikes. reporters report. welcome to the english language
If you have a problem with the subject line why pin that on Rosenblatt - he didn't write it here, did he? Why not take it up with the "UStadium" guy on "X" who wrote the tweet copied in the OP? Precisely what is it that Rosenblatt put to paper that has you so riled up? Did you even read Rosenblatt's words, or are you just taking fourth or fifth hand "information" about it and conjuring up in your own mind what you think it means? Does that make your take, home on your couch, better than that of a credentialed NFL reporter?
This doesn’t make much sense. All of the coaching departures have been on the offensive side of the ball lol. As fans we’ve been wanting MASSIVE changes on that side anyways and still have Hackett as the head of this mess. But I guess if you bolster up the position coaches maybe it will support Hackett better in trying to create this offense. But in no way we or anyone should be upset over the flood of changes on the offensive side. Note, none of the defensive guys have left …so yeah.
another Rossini “ tempest in a teapot” announcement that has very tiny little legs on its way to nowhere. What a useless reporter.
If you want to consider the CS as being 2 units coaching 2 separate teams, I would agree. I was referring to the CS on whole, not focusing on one side of the ball. Although all the coaching departures have been on one side, the one coach on defense who WANTED to leave was denied and so will be here under duress as opposed to wanting to be here. When a person says they want to go, usually its a good idea to let them go. Keeping Ulbrich all but guarantees he'll be out of here at the first opportunity. I also think if Ulbrich left, he would be the first of many defensive coaching departures. Douglas and Saleh would be dead men walking if that happened, so they chained Ulbrich to his chair. Its gonna take a miracle for this CS to save themselves in '24 Rodgers or not. Not hard to realize that and as the old saying goes, you gotta know when to hold and when to fold. Ulbrich tried to bail and barring a incredible run, will be gone. The real question is, how long are we gonna stay with Saleh and Douglas. Smart money seems to be one and done after this year. I don't blame Ulbrich one bit for wanting to get off the Titanic. I think folks finally took Woody Johnson's not so subtle hint very seriously this time.
What does Rossini, or even Russini, have to do with anything involved with Ulbrich and San Francisco? Is she "useless" because she hasn't checked in on the story?
No, I was responding to a comment made by some one here that the information came from one of her columns.
