Kraft wants the troof: NY Times I believe it?s something that never happened,? Kraft said in his first public comments since Walsh surfaced. [BUT] ?If so, why wouldn?t ? two months later ? anything have come out? [gee I wonder why too ]But we live in a society where people can make any kind of allegations. But then, it has to be substantiated.? Kraft added: ?I?m looking forward to him speaking, and hopefully cleaning this up and completely exonerating us. It?s kind of strange that six or seven years after ... I know ourselves and the N.F.L. have done everything we can do to help his lawyers have him speak.? Oh yeah, and then there is this little detail. A camera is missing: But Walsh?s lawyer has said that Walsh has tapes ? of what is unknown, although Kraft said the team was missing the end-zone shot of Adam Vinatieri?s winning field goal in that Super Bowl, which would have been shot with the camera Walsh was in charge of, and which might have also been used to tape defensive signals that night. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/01/s...5200&en=5a55e818477d2cda&ei=5087 &oref=slogin TBTF
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3325532 This can't be good. Goodell is already hinting that he's losing patience with this matter. If he closes this entire investigation out from the NFL point of view, the Patriots will walk away scott-free. Unless Specter start holding Congressional hearings. Then it'll be on like Donkey-Kong. What I don't understand is, what is Walsh afraid of? I would assume the Pats CS would've directed him to videotape walkthroughs so that they can view it and gain an advantage. Otherwise, (if what i'm understanding from the article and Goodell's demeanor) if he videotaped signals, nothing will be done since the Patriots have already been punished for that. Either way, if Walsh is really committed to protect the league and its integrity, he should come forward if all he did was follow instructions. Aside from legal expenses, I don't see what else they would need to cover, unless he's going to provide phone conversations between himself and FO & CS (reason he was fired) which would then be really interesting.
The FBI storming Foxboro with warrants and bulletproof vests!!:rofl: Now THAT's something I'd like to see. What makes you think the FBI gives a crap about some rules violation in a football game? Arlen Specter?:rofl:
A business that pulls in 10s if not 100s of billions of dollars a year and affects Vegas is a huge way makes me think that. If you don't think the Pats cheating has a huge impact and won't be affected by governmental influence at this point, then you have your head up your ass. Wait, never mind about that last part, it was pretty redundant.
LOL When the FBI storms the NFL and Patriots headquarters, I'll apologize...... ...until then, I am laughing at all these absurd ideas...:rofl::grin:
You thought the idea of the Pats cheating was absurd, so your laughter is about as meaningful as a bag of dead ants.
The Pats violated a rule. Stealing signs is not cheating. That's what I said. I stand by it. I also said the idea of suspending BB for the season, or barring the Pats from the playoffs, or giving the Jets their entire draft was absurd......it was, but that's what the suggestions were on this board. I have no idea what doughboy is talking about. I said no such thing.
Violating rules in organized competitions is cheating. It's a rule that you can't look over somebody's shoulder and copy their answers when you are taking a test. Doing so is cheating. Same thing the Pats did.
Why does everyone automatically assume that because nothing has developed so far, the NFL must be stalling? With the public knowledge out, what makes it any more likely that the NFL is stalling than that Walsh and his lawyers are stalling? Maybe it is the NFL stalling, but for everyone shouting "conspiracy!", I just don't see how anyone outside could know which side is slowing things up. And abyzmul, it isn't a big deal when the everyone up to this point known to be the Pats "cheating" had little or not effect on the games themselves. I've heard a lot of people say that somehow it's a moral outrage that people broke the rules and weren't lynched for it, but logistically, realistically nothing that has come out thus far has been a big deal.
You're right, the NFL came out and said the tapes had no effect on the outcome of the game... right after they destroyed the evidence. Sorry, but that screams 'conspiracy!' to me whether you like it or not.
The Patriots were taping the defensive signals of the other team. I don't really see how anything on those tapes would be incriminating or make people say "wow..just wow that completely changes the competitive balance of this game." Yes, it may appear suspicious that the NFL destroyed the evidence, and clearly that was a mistake by Goodell given the speculation that it has fueled. However, given the fact that the early that week the footage from the Pats sideline in their opening day win over the Jets was leaked to the media, Goodell's actions may make more sense. What is really funny to me, is that Arlen Spector is one of the people shouting conspiracy. The same guy that led a commission investigating JFK's assassination, who knows better than almost anyone that some suspicious circumstances and a ton of extra speculation do not add up to a conspiracy, is the one screaming that the NFL is covering up something loudest, is odd to say the least. My original point about conspiracy claims was that many are claiming that because nothing yet has come out the NFL must be stalling because it does not want anything to arise, and I was simply pointing out that it remains just as likely that Walsh is stalling. A lot of people seem to think that because the NFL wants people to move on, there must be something bigger underneath this whole mess, and it could just be that the reason the NFL wants people to forget about this is because it was/is insignificant and has been dealt with.
Boston Globe: Walsh is a calculating, bitter liar Back in 1991, the Kennedy family unleashed the "nuts and sluts" defense to save William Kennedy Smith from doing hard time for a charge of rape. In essence, it meant trashing your accuser. It seems like Boston Globe is following in that great Mass. tradition as Walsh waits to come forward: "He sounded like a loose cannon," said the coworker, who asked not to be identified to avoid entangling his new employer in the controversy. "He was very bitter about how things ended with the Patriots and he seemed like he was keen on using whatever he had to get back at them by going public and really trying to damage the team." Oh and the Globe also wants to help the Pats cover their asses: According to individuals familiar with the inquiry by the Patriots, every employee who could have been involved in taping the Rams, including video director Jimmy Dee, assured chief executive Robert Kraft that no one, including Walsh, did so unless the person acted without authorization, used his own video equipment, and never mentioned or showed the recording to anyone else in the organization. Of course, Belly isn't calculating and bitter. Only Walsh. More here: http://www.boston.com/sports/footba..._calculating_bitter/?p1=Well_MostPop_Emailed2 TBTF
So when Peyton Manning wore black sneakers, when the rest of the team wore white, and he got fined, that's cheating? When T.O. whipped out the Sharpie, that's cheating? Nice argument.
Wow the intelligence of that comeback is astounding if you couldnt understand what he was implying then you are idiot. Bill openly stated that he cheated but in his words he interpreted the definition of the policy in another way. My belief was that the Patriots should have been put on the NFL version of suspension. Suspended from the playoffs for a year or two and the loss of 1st round picks for the same amount of years.
Why type that? You could have had a poignant rebuttal and you ruined it with dogshit. I was rooting for you..... You Suck.
I think Spector is as slimy a politician as there is in Congress, and I think his motives are less than honorable (but I do think it was Philly connections that have him pressing so hard)... however, you can't just use the politician's past to direct attention away from the factors involved. Imagine what kind of public hit the league would take if it was even perceived and not proven that there was cheating in the biggest game of the year? Imagine the repercussions in the gambling world? And I don't think you're naive enough to think that isn't a huge factor. No matter what Matt Walsh has, the NFL wants none of it to come to light, and that kind of interest by a corporation with that kind of monetary power is what conspiracies are born from. On the other hand, I think the Jets had motives other than blocking a videotaping of signals when they pinched the Pats' cameraman. They used a rule to achieve an end. I think the Pats use those tapes for much more than gleaning defensive signals, but that is neither there nor here. And has nothing to do win what Matt Walsh supposedly has on tape.
