Alex Smith is a really good comp for Tyrod Taylor. At a middling salary he'd be a good hold the fort guy if we were giving up entirely on getting a top pick to get one of the star QB's likely to be in the 2018 or 2019 drafts. Taylor would be good for 6 to 9 wins next year and several years after that, just like he was in Buffalo.
