That Tyreek Hill press conference was embarrassing. Definitely glad he is not a Jet now. It would have been a bad look for the Jets to have a player blatantly admit he is only here for the money, which Hill just said about Miami. Robert Saleh is all about All Gas No Brake, where Tyreek Hill is about All Cash No Loyalty. Doesn't fit with what the Jets are doing. Still a strong playmaker though, but I bet Miami (and Hill) will eventually regret this decision.
https://bleacherreport.com/post/new-york-jets/9c9f3c83-60a4-44dc-8d3f-1b0a3256808b Tells the whole story, used the jets as leverage. No intention to come here. I wasted all that energy yesterday. Why he would burn bridges, is beyond me. Maybe young dumb and rich! May bite him in the end. Reminds me of something AB would do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But but but.....we could have offered both 1's and the next 3 years 1's and forced the Chiefs to trade him here. Then we make him the highest paid player in football history (or franchise him.) Problem solved!
LOL. Love it. Oh what a great relief it is, we can now move on, stop talking about what JD should have done different, count our blessings, leverage the draft and picking players that actually have some class and smarts along along with skills and want to be here. Meantime, KC will welcome the picks, choose another WR or two, plus beef up some holes curtesy of Miami and make them stars like they always do with Mahomes at the helm. All the while saving major cash. Hill will be soon forgotten. That’s what great teams do. BTW. Adam Schein is once again in love with the sound of his voice proclaiming at nausea this a masterful move for Miami, literally shutting down in mid sentence anyone that disagrees with his view on the air, especially Jet fans happy it didn’t happen, forecasting how much better the Phins will be this year with Tua. And Hill. Can’t wait to see how this season unfolds. He is usually off the mark by a bunch so there is that. Too much hype on the big moves, most of which often disappoint.
Tyreek Hill might be a top 10 WR. What he was paid was like he was a top 3 WR. There is no way A.J. Brown is a top 10 WR. He's more like an average #1 in the NFL these days. What he was looking to get paid was absurd. A player who gets more than 10% of the cap better be winning you games you can't win any other way. The WR salary explosion guarantees that a lot of guys are going to get that 10%+ without having the corresponding effect on your wins and losses.
Christ when did AJ Brown get traded to the Eagles? Was it last night during the draft? I see Hollywood Brown also got traded.
Uh... AJ Brown is 24 on a run first offense with a mediocre QB and has topped 1000 yards in 2 of this 3 years - would have been 3 if he didn't miss 4 games last year. The only WRs who are under 25 that I would take over him are Jamar Chase, Jefferson, and maybe CeeDee Lamb. Situations matter Brad. He is elite.
If he was elite his team would have paid him instead of trading him. He's not Tyreek Hill, 28 and likely to decline on that second deal. He claims he would have taken $20M a year to stay with the Titans but they weren't interested. BTW, the other thing that is important is that he is not getting better as he gets NFL experience. If anything he is trending slightly downwards and that is never something you want to see in a young player because the NFL does that to everyone over time.
Or his team is just dumb as rocks and Philly got a homerun player to help see if their young QB can become the guy. Give me AJ brown (the assets given up and his new contract) over Tyreek (the assets given up and his new contract). It isn't close. EDIT - his coach even knows his GM made a huge mistake
I totally agree with that statement. That doesn't mean that I think A.J. Brown is a top 10 WR, just that I think he is more affordable and at a better place in his career progression than Hill. Note that there were 25 WR's that got at least 1,000 yards receiving last year. That's not an indication of excellence any more it is an indication that you are a #1 WR on an NFL team. Which is what A.J. Brown was on Tennessee last year.
23 WRs had 1000 yards and only these 3 WRs were on teams that were run heavy (top 10 in rush attempts). - Deebo - Marquise Brown - Terry McClaurin The Titans were ranked in the bottom 7 in pass attempts. They had 551 rushing attempts which was 80 more than the 10th ranked team. If Henry doesn't go down that difference is most likely larger. If AJ got the same opportunities as any other team which was more balanced/pass happy his numbers would explode. We can just agree to disagree about how talented he is. This won't go anywhere.
