Damn, I got hit in the face with what I think is a pretty fair comparison: Alphonso Smith.

Small playmaker who attacks the ball every play...

I still like the Ed Reed comparison better.

Alphonso Smith did get a shit ton of interceptions at Wake though. Mathieu is more versatile though - his blitzing ability is scary. ...the same can be said about his return ability.

Reed is a good comparison projecting TM7 as a Safety(which I'm 100% behind), but his game and size is similar to Smith as a CB.

Smith had 8 career FFs , 4 TDs, 10 sacks, 61 PD, and, as you said, a shit ton of INTs. Yeah, TM7 has him beat when it comes to blitzing, but their ability to be by the ball every play is very comparable.

And when I compare him to Smith, it's not in a negative way. There are too many individual factors in Smith's case they may not be around TM7 to say they'll end up the same way in the NFL...

    and then injured his back.

But two great returns plus a fumble recovery, and they're saying he may come back in.

Guys a beast. A little small at 175 pounds but has time to get bigger. That play where he ran the ball back and flipped the ball to the ref before scoring was one of the stupidest fucking things i've ever seen in football and luckily for him he got away with it, Pretty stupid move for a great player.
