The Broncos are likely trying to trade Chubb because they will be unable to afford him after this season is over. He's looking like the real deal and probably is going to be asking for a record-breaking contract. With the acquisition of Russell Wilson the Broncos cap is a bit stretched with $203M in liabilities for 2023 already and $164M for 2024. The thing to remember about the way the salary structure is set at this point is that for 90% of players who get a second contract that contract will be the best they ever see. So there is a huge amount of pressure to maximize gains on that particular deal. This is one of the reasons that Elijah Moore is going off right now. He wants out before he winds up in a permanent 2WR role or even slot role. The money is not there in those situations.
Yeah, he would definitely struggle the rest of his life, after earning only WR2 money for 10 years. Edit but on the other issue, maybe it is best for us that Zach doesn't reach the heights, I mean once they do and get FQB money the rest of the team is bang out of luck getting paid.
You're on to something here. Good teams win consistently. Often a good QB is part of that equation. However paying your QB like he is the only reason you are winning is a quick way to diminish the overall talent on the team and stop winning as consistently.
There’s no way we can go through the rest of the season with Ty Johnson and Carter. Cam Akers James Robinson Khalil Herbert Jamal Williams / deandre swift
DeAndre Swift has been injured all season. Those other backs would be great additions. Maybe there's an outside chance of prying David Montgomery from the Bears.
Sure will be interesting. Several thoughts to go with but leave it up to JD who he thinks will be best to acquire and trade away for draft picks. Just enjoy the win(s) for now and focus on NE while JD goes to work.
Can't see us trading draft picks for a random running back. We've put 2 decent picks into the position and can't see us pumping more in. Akers is busy, he's going to be out the league soon. Maybe Coleman will shake loose again, but expect that they want to see knight come in and show what he's got. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
How about we just give ZK who looked good in pre-season a chance and make more use of MC1 at the same time, I don't want to see Coleman back here tbh, we don't need a guy who will become a problem in a years time either, ie Akers who wants out of the Rams and has already had an injury and not been that productive either. Out of those names above maybe Herbert would be worth a 5th?
Part of the reason our running game works is because it was built for a speedster who runs a 4.4 forty. We cant just plug in any JAG running back and expect results in our system.
This team was built to be a contender next year. We might be ahead of schedule but that does not justify throwing away a draft pick for a player we will not need next year. We should be sellers at the deadline not buyers. Mims, Hall, and pick one DL from Vinny Curry, Martin or Shepherd.
Another bright spot is we could have a team that's a QB away for a veteran or a rookie to step in come 2024 or even sooner.
Still just spit ballin but... Were in the mix this season. A little QB competition between young guys just might make the cream rise to the top. Could even save us another first round trade up.
I wasn't a fan of the pick tbh and I am trying to be positive as you can see he has something special but so did Sam, this last game was a huge step backwards to last season when he was firing it high wide and handsome, after that 4th quarter I thought he had flicked the switch but it seems not. I don't want a Vet, I had liked the look of R Wilson but he has been awful for the Broncos and I can see another vet coming to the Jets and filling a retirement bag, do we take the risk of another QB in the draft, if so, who is a no brainer pick with a high guarantee of success?
He was pick 74. Why would it take a 1st? Moore was pick 34 and is a proven playmaker. It would be a stupid trade for Atlanta but Mariota is having a career season, Atlanta is actually in the mix in their division, and JD is a good deal maker.
