Im sure LaFleur’s game plan was to make sure Zach only throws 1 TD and barely over 50% of his passes. Garrett Wilson looked like the clear cut best WR of the draft until Zach came back, now he’s disappeared. Zach is not managing the game in front of him. This far Zach hasn’t been able to process the entire play before it breaks down. Hopefully he eventually can but right now looks very shaky if you look objectively.
Wilson dropped at least three perfect passes in his basket. So stop that rational. And yes, he and Zach need to develop more of a relationship and timing, but the reason for Garret diminishing catches is first and foremost more conservative play calling, more running and a few drops. With Flacco was a different game, as you would expect. Saying Zach has not managed the game in front of him as a global statement after three wins is utter nonsense.
Shame on me. I clicked on "Show Ignored Content" to see what a couple of posters were responding to, and I see that three of our dumbest/least knowledgeable posters are still as ignorant as ever. Sad. They really need to find a new team for which to root, because Zach is going to be our starting QB for the next 15-20 years.
The Jets aren't going to find a vet capable of leading them in the playoffs at this point of the season. They're all on other teams either in starting or backup roles. If ZW gets hurt Flacco is probably next man up. Then White. Neither of those guys is likely to be a big step down from ZW in the current offense the Jets are running. If the team tried to go pass first with either of them, like they did with Flacco at the start, the Jets would likely flop. However that's also probably true with ZW. The formula that is working for the Jets right now is run the ball and let Breece Hall play Hero Ball and it's working. The defense has stepped up some and if they maintain their progress we have a shot at being relevant in December.
I'm disappointed that you're ready to trade Moore after one mistake. I would have expected that from some others on this board, but not you. IMO he's too good to give up on this quickly. It's not like he's a bad character type. He just made a mistake out of immaturity. If he doesn't learn from this and change his attitude, then I will join you in wanting him traded, but imo it's way too early to even think about trading him. Things could improve slowly or quickly, or they could devolve at the same rate, but imo it's worth waiting to see how Moore responds. I sure wouldn't reward him for his outburst by giving him what he wants. I'd bench his ass indefinitely. He'd have to earn the right to play again with his attitude and work ethic in practice. He'd be told in no uncertain terms that if he opened his mouth on social media again that he would be fined out the wazoo and the Jets would NEVER trade him. He'd either be inactive for the rest of his rookie contract sitting on his ass on the bench, or he would be traded to the worst team and worst situation for him that I could find when I was good and ready to trade him, and not before.
If you believe that Zach is the answer we only have one decent QB. The best teams have depth. If Zach is so insecure that competition would prevent him from doing his job what does that tell you about the leader of our offense?
Isn't there a mailing list with your name on it somewhere? Or will we need to drag this post up at the end of the season, when the really smart guy told us Zach was our QB for the next 20 years. Having quality QBs is supporting the Jets in the best way possible. Its the most important position - remember. Not wanting anyone but Zach, because they might outplay him, is supporting Zach - not the team. Who do you really support? Would you complain if we got Herbert, who after just a few starts was twice the QB Zach is? Zach ain't no Herbert, and ain't no sure thing. While there is a possibility that a genuinely talented young guy like Ridder could take this team to another level. But we shouldn't risk that because, you know, we're set at QB for 20 years. Your the one that belongs on ignore.
Only if Zach is playing like shit, which as I've already pointed out there's no evidence that JD and Saleh believe he is.
Who said a QB controversy is possible unless Zach is playing like shit and proves he's never going to do any better? If you really believe that where's your evidence that Douglas and Saleh believe that?
He doesn't need to play great at this point. He needs to play competently which he is. And he still has a high ceiling. I see nothing to tell me that JD and Saleh believe otherwise, so where am I trying to "have both sides"?.
I didn't say that bringing in a competent backup would create a controversy. Bringing in a guy who still believes he can be a starter and isn't satisfied with being a backup, which as I've said several times already unless JD and Saleh think Zach can't be the starter they're not going to bring someone like that.
Out of interest what are Ridder's current NFL stats? He must be having a good season for you to declare him the guy who could take us to the next level, fuck I'm all for that tbh.
My thinking on trading him now has to do with trading him before his value sinks any further. If Saleh benches him indefinitely and he becomes a clear cancer then his value sinks. IMO, as I stated, guys who act like this usually don't change or "mature". Yes, he may come out and say some contrite things, but I wouldn't believe he's sincere. He'll always be a "me first" guy and the Jets don't need any more of those.
Maybe, but it's up to the GM and HC to manage those expectations and make it clear to whoever they bring in for that role understands it.
Do you mean "think they have the ability to be a starter?" Because I'm sure the guys behind the top QB's aren't saying to themselves "Man, I should be starting."
