this is un-real. chad's a great QB, he just came back too early...i do agree we should give him less money but the 2 idiots who said those comments can kiss my ass
Isn't that a bit contradictory? If his injuries have come from awkward hits and falls (which mean his body was bent in ways it's NOT supposed to bend) how does that make him fragile? If I pull a groin muscle while trying to do a split, that does NOT make me fragile. It just means my body isn't meant for doing splits. However, if I pull a groin muscle while running downfield *coughsantanamosscough*, then that would mean I'm fragile. Chad's injuries have ocurred under bad circumstances in which everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong. You can accuse him of not having a big arm, not being able to beat the elite teams, not knowing how to fall down correctly, or having a bad hairstyle, but you cannot call him fragile. It's just not right. I'm not saying that Chad's going to come back and be great. I'm not even saying that he will come back at all. Fragile or not, the damage has been done. I just think he deserves a little more respect.
I wonder if the "2 Offensive Players" would still say the same thing about penny now. I bet you Jolley was one of the players that said this.
I realized that but I find it hard to believe that a JETS player would say something in confidence and he'd go and put it in the paper. I really hate the media.
The guy was coming off yet another potentially career-ending injury, had yet to play an entire NFL season, and had a ridiculous contract. Plus a new regime was coming in. Releasing Penny back then would have been the smart decision, unless the coaches saw something in him during their evaluations. Not sure if they could have, since I think the decision was made well before training camp. Just because Penny has had two good games in a row doesn't make it a bad thing to consider, after all, hindsight is 20/20. You have to think about the decision at that time. I mean, if I play the lottery, and then 2 days later different numbers win, I can't look back and say it was stupid that I didn't pick those numbers, how would I have known the future? I personally hope this is the year Penny turns the corner, plays the entire season, and takes his place as an upper echelon QB for years to come, I'm guessing he has what, maybe 5 years remaining? The guy IS 30 years old now right? Age catches up quickly in the NFL, 35-36 is usually pushing it. I would have understood if Mangini went with a new QB instead of Pennington this year, I don't know if we will compete for another 2-3 years, that should be just hitting Pennington's best years maybe.
Pennington has paid off so far and is playing top notch but he is one injury away from alot of you guys turning on him
Edit : Wait, this artcile is 7 Months old! Who ever wanted this to happen didn't get their wish, so oh well.
How do you or anyone else know, it could be a rumor? As for putting his job on the line, well if he doesn't reveal his source, then who really knows? One cant get in trouble for starting a rumor if the source is never revealed....Tons of rumors are started all over this league every year, all season long. Its a league of smoke and mirrors. And some writers are just bias, and have nothing better to do then start shit, or blow things out of purportion...It happens all the time....
