I remember when they said the same things about Phil Simms. The first 3 years of his career, Simms couldn't stay on the field. There was no inkling that he would ever be the QB to lead the Giants to the Super Bowl, but all of sudden the ship was righted, they put a line in front of him and backs behind him and Simms was on his way to a potential HOF career. A lot of Chad's injury problems are due to the fact that the line has had trouble protecting him (and some ill-advised scrambles).
One thing though, I would never put Chad and Simms on the same page. Chad couldn't hold Simms' smelly jock....
And if I remember correctly wasn't Simms injuries to the ankles, groin, abdomen? Coming back from consecutive throwing shoulder surgeries is going to prove difficult...
The thing with Simms is, he was a really durable guy. His almost albino-like appearance, especially when he was starting out, belied his toughness and ability to take shots. I remember when his finger jammed into the helmet of a defender and his finger broke so bad the bone came through. He took shots in the pocket that would have put a guy like Pennington in the hospital in traction.
If those are real quotes they must be from players who have a personal feud with pennington. It's hard to imagine players being so unprofessional as to use the media to question the health of and call for the release of a teammate and being too cowardly to do it on the record. I could only imagine a player stooping that low if he really hated chad. Or maybe if he tried to talk to chad about restructuring for the good of the team and chad blew him off? Or could the front office be so devious as to plant those quotes to create bargaining leverage over chad (to create the illusion of additional pressure from his teammates to restructure or be released?) And would Cannizarro be dumb enough to print unattributed quotes that he received second hand? so many questions.
guys i think we're making a bigger deal out of the quotes than need be....theres 52 guys on the team and not all of them are professional, not all intelligent, and they dont all get along....who cares if 2 guys think chad should be released.....this kind of nonsense happens all the time....everyones big boy on the team and idf chad ever does play again(which i doubt) im pretty sure hes not gonna play inspector clouseau and try to figure out who said what
As if. Simms Best Day (which to his credit came In the Super Bowl), was no where near Penningtons level of outright Dominance, when healthy. And if you compare them at the same Point in their repective careers, Pennington is vastly superior. That having been said, What the future holds is indeed a question mark. But the state of footbal being what it is, where a good quarterback can have a miserable day, and still win the Super Bowl (Roethlisberger) and a Mediocre Journeyman can Win it all (Dilfer) The situation dictates that you keep Pennington, Pray, and fortify your line, and add speed to the Backfield. This Team now has three TE's that can Catch, Coles,Cotchery, McCariens (Who should be a posession recvr), Williams. You need a Guard, a Tackle, And speed from the backfield, and one more out wide.... Provided you arent passing up Vince Young to do it.
I find it every so humorous that you will go out of your way to defend someone you don't even know just because they can help you knock the Jets. That being said, my advice to anyone is to take what is written in the papers with a grain of salt - especially when you have not physical, tangible proof. Print Media is in the business of selling newpapers... "journalists" are their salesmen.
I was merely referring to the outright Fiction that spans from page one to somewhere arouund a20...:rofl2:
Will see it is fact or fiction if Canny is still the NYJ beat writer come this upcoming season. I am just giving you simple common sense which sorry to say like the Zs in your name just zipped over your head
Well that is you IMHO however I was referring to a recent scandal or two when reporters published BS & paid with it with there jobs
You wouldn't know common sense if it bit you in the arse. Whether or not he's still the beat writer will have little to do with this article and its "factual" content. I'm not saying it isn't true. It is very possible that people feel that way about Penny. We hear it here, so it isn't unlikely to be in the locker room. I am just smarter than to listen and read everything in the papers and media as being gospel.
I'm guessing both players were on the O-line, since they are getting a lot of the blame for Pennington's injuries. It would not surprise me if Pete Kendall was one of them--remember the reason he is here is because he couldn't keep his mouth shut in Arizona.
I can't take this for much more than a grain of salt, while it could be pivotal players on offense, it is more likely to be either backups or players who know they are going to be released
Simms wasn't that good...I mean he was a solid QB but he never threw more than 22 TD's in a season, but yes...he is better than chad.
Good point, JTD. Herm never allowed a bitchy clubhouse, and unless you have Reggie Jackson on the team, bitchy clubhouses translate into losing seasons. I don't agree with Parcell-style gag orders, but not-for-attribution denigrations of teammates are bad for business.
The fact that the player said that he's like an egg back there makes it seem like its a lineman. But that's just me.
well,i'm sure it is safe to say it wasn't Coles. Regardless,i hope Penny is back, and better than ever!
