Surprised Thomas Morstead even accepted the exact same contract he had yesterday considering the way we slapped him in the face like that.
The only guy I'm even slightly upset they lost so far is Colon. Still very surprised about Irv Charles. It may mean that Lazards shoulder or Hardmans pinky are worse than we thought.
Might be more likely that Knight wasn’t interested in signing on our PS after keeping Carter over him (when Carter can’t even pickup positive ydg without a gaping hole). After drafting a promising rookie and signing Hall as well, heading to the Lions was a better bet for him to get back on the field than here.
Thanks! So they had to do it this way so that they IR guys only miss 4 weeks instead of all year? Not sure on the current IR rules…I thought there were different kind of IR’s that could be all year vs. half a year or something like that. But it sounds like this way they can bring either guy back in 4 weeks and didn’t have to expose either guy to waiver claims
Smart making a tough living on the PS by NFL standards, but a living nonetheless at 200-300k annually doing what he loves. Glad he stuck.
Carter must be a sentimental favorite of the CS as he really hasn't done shit since Breece got here. Bam would have been the better choice but what's done is done.
I would’ve kept Colon over Turner considering AVT can play tackle if needed. Charles was a surprise, but an intriguing player as well. I wouldn’t doubt he bounces to and from PS as needed.
I think 2 things: 1. He did show some elusiveness in his rookie year. He was a very productive player at UNC. I think they feel they can capture that again. 2. The locker room absolutely loves this guy.
Yes. If they had put Warren and Yeboah on the IR before rosters were "set" they would have had to miss the entire season. Now, they only miss 4 weeks, but I think it could be extended to all year if a player hasn't recovered sufficiently. They not only didn't have to expose Warren and Yeboah to waiver claims, but they also didn't have to expose two other young players that they want to keep to waivers. It really is a brilliant way of handling the roster cut down. I'm surprised that the NFL hasn't taken it away from teams.
he was one of the top RBs his rookie season and even had a 172 yard game where he carried the offense to a 34-31 win. he was top 5 in missed/broken tackle percentage and had a 4.3 YPC
I think he's a developmental back for next year when Cook is gone. If he develops then the RB corps in 2024 will then be Hall, Izzy, Valladay, and Carter or a rookie.
I was stunned, but I did some reading today, and Saleh said that Charles has been a "wolf" on STs and has been a great addition to STs, and that he has improved as a WR, but still has a long way to go before he plays offense. So I think he's purely on the roster for STs or until Echols, Warren or JCB come back.
On another note I don't recall a Jets team as focused on putting together an ST squad as we have going on now. Maybe its a function of having lots of above average guys at other positions so as to focus on ST guys specficially. It's a luxury.
Idk, Carter was playing hurt last year, I think he’s better than he was in 22. Bam’s poor vision makes him a dime a dozen type. I can understand the move
