Thx-and great call on the veteran cut/resign possibilities--no one expected Morestead to be that guy but you accurately pointed out the advantages to such a move.
Per Zack Rosenblatt: Trey Dean (who I'm now less excited about after reading that scouting report) is signing with the Jets practice squad. Trystan Colon claimed by the Cardinals. ^No surprise there. He might even get playing time on that team.
CB / ST Craig James RB Xazavian Valladay S Tyreque Jones S Trey Dean LB Sam Eguavoen OL Adam Pankey QB T Boyle TE Zack Kuntz LB Caleb Johnson This seems to be all of our PS guys as of right now. EDIT: DL Tanzel Smart (Being reported by uStadium that Tanzel is back with the Jets on the PS)
I'm happy nobody claimed Dean or Kuntz! I'm shocked that nobody claimed Bam. I'd be cool with him on the PS as well.
Interesting that we claimed no one. We still have 7 WRs and didn't address any areas where we need depth (LB, OL). Not sure what the gameplan is here.
Thus far signings are for guys who were cut prior to yesterday. Guys who were cut yesterday still have time to be claimed--or maybe not. Apparently Boyle got cut yesterday and is on our PS already. Weird--supposed to be 24 hour window.
Boyle was a vested veteran who didn't go through waivers (more than 4 years of service). Here's the Jets press release - https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-53-man-roster-2023-season) - for players who wouldn't go through waivers it says released and for players who have to go through waivers, it says waived. I believe that all claims for waived players requests had to be made by noon EDT today, so anyone not claimed by noon today who was waived yesterday is not on an NFL roster and could be signed to a practice squad. Now the players who were claimed off waivers (or signed) will likely result in further players getting cut by those teams today and then, I believe, teams could put in waiver requests for them by noon tomorrow and so on.
Not sure what people see in him to be honest. And the fact the NYJ went wit Xazavian Valladay for the PS over Bam tells me Bam was never really close to making the team.
