Oh I've known the system is wrong for a while. I just can't believe how casual people are about voting based on the other person vs voting based on policies and beliefs.
The building would be an infrastructure project like the interstates, lots of jobs & revenue for contractors and just pump money right into the economy. The patrol will be done mostly through cameras and sensors at a central control post. When suspects are detected then border patrol are dispatched from the nearest outpost
Thats all illegal immigrants, from Melania Trump, down to a border jumper. If we could break down the numbers, I would be curious to see how much of that 100 billion is from border hopping, and how much is from expired visas.
Except the taxpayers are the ones paying the bill. Not Mexico. Why couldnt they set camaras up without a wall? What does that wall really accomplish if its unmanned...besides being a possible deterrent.
I've seen estimates at about 40% are expired visas. You wouldn't poo poo some gun control legislation if it was only going to prevent 50% of illegal gun purchases, would you?
Im not poo pooing anything. Just think there could be better solutions than building a wall. You know what happens when you build a wall. The fuckin Mongolians come and knock it down.
like Gary Johnson said......taller walls just lead to taller ladders. it's a waste of time, and it won't save us money. if you want to create infrastructure jobs, do it on actual infrastructure projects. now the Syrian refugee issue, that's another discussion altogether. I don't believe we have a responsibility to take them in, and i find it a little disturbing that other Middle Eastern countries aren't going out of their way to assist their neighbors in Islam. maybe Jordan should build a wall, and bill Syria the cost.
huge waste of time and money. it honestly surprises me that people are taking it seriously and not dismissing it along with all the other nonsense Trump has said in campaigning
Simply responding to this: "He's not a great candidate but still better than both the main ones IMO." If not actual evil, then certainly damning with faint praise.
And in today's news, Donald Trump has "absolutely" identified Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as the co-founders of ISIS.
More than 60% of illegals come here without going through the steps to get a temp visa/work visa. Even if 35-40% of illegals are here on a temp visa/work visa at least they have been screened and found admissible one time at least. The other 6-7 million have not gone through any screening process. The fence in San Diego worked, it works in Israel. I have no problem with immigrants but I want to make sure they all go through a screening process not just freely walk across the border. A fence/wall would help limit illegal entry, even if it cut it in half the savings of about $1 billion a year in government benefits and services paid to those illegals would help pay for it in short order.
Border security is a waste of time and money? I think it will pay for itself and eventually save us a lot of money, create many jobs (mostly temporary) and make our country more secure.
Just like a home with a security system but no door, cameras without a physical barrier is pretty useless.
If 20,000 Mexicans attempted to knock down the wall I am sure they would get a different response other than border patrol. The Mongols also invaded before the modern sections of the wall were build by the Ming Dynasty. Kind of like expecting chain link fence to deter the current incoming illegals, it won't work unless a true barrier is built.
