Some reporter on Twitter speculated that the Jets might try to set up a void in Trumaine’s guarantees with a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team
Our mega million dollar man isn't playing today. Apparently he didn't show up to practices this week. Like how he hasn't been showing up to games this year. Is it too late to fire Mac?
Maybe give him a raise if Johnson's contract has language that causes him to lose money or void the contract for things like not going to work on his assigned shift. Anybody know how a voided contract affects cap space?
And others here claim that Johnson was signed at the urging and pleading of Bowles, himself. There is just so much crap that goes on that none of us actually know the truth about.
You guys really trust Mike Mac with spending 100 million when he again OVERSPENT on a position of need because Mac sucks and made this guy the highest p[aid CB in the league ?
It seems odd that Bowles is cracking the whip as he's about to be shown the door. Why didn't he do it years earlier? He has always seemed to be a cream puff when it comes to discipline. Perhaps Bowles wants to highlight bad behavior by one of Maccagnan's big-money free-agent signings as a way of making sure Maccagnan goes out the door with him. Inquiring minds wonder. As for voiding his contract, it appears he is simply inactive, not suspended. Wouldn't the Jets suspend him if their goal is to void his contract based on conduct detrimental to the team?
MAC has the final say..so for that you make a good point. But it was Bowles & his staff who pushed for Trumaine & went as far as to say hed be a team leader;Team leader?!
This always happens under Bowles. Revis for the first time in his career...outright quit at football under Bowles. Mo Wilk, outright quit under Bowles. Locker room issues with Marshall and Richardson. No surprise here. Same old dysfunction under Bowles
I posted this in the Fire Bowles thread before I saw this thread: After 4 years, Bowles FINALLY figures out that maybe meting out meaningful discipline will get players attention: https://nypost.com/2018/12/30/jets-depleted-secondary-may-be-without-its-72-5-million-man/ "...Johnson is a healthy scratch for Sunday’s finale against the Patriots. ESPN reported that Johnson “didn’t show up for meetings, nor practice.” Johnson did not practice on Wednesday for what coach Todd Bowles labeled “an in-house matter.” In the first year of a five-year, $72.5 million deal, Johnson looks like a terrible signing. He has given up several big plays and committed costly penalties late in losses to the Titans and Packers... ...ESPN also reported that safety Darryl Roberts may not start because he “was late for some scheduled events.” Roberts has been starting at safety the past five games in place of Marcus Maye." ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** So I guess you CAN bench players when they screw up and don't play hard, even when you don't have good replacements for them! Vince Lomabrdi would be proud! Maybe if he had been doing this since the beginning he wouldn't be looking at ending his HCing career today. "A day late and a dollar short" as they say. Honestly, I think if they dressed up a mannequin in Jets clothing and put a headset on its head and a clipboard in its hands no one would know Bowles wasn't at the game, and they'd do better.
This is amazing. This is a pro football team and Roberts and Johnson are behaving like it's high school senior year...senioritis "Well year's over anyway...we don't have to show up and care anymore" What the hell kind of garbage culture has Bowles fostered here in the past 4 years. This stuff persisting is very troubling I hate that Darnold has been exposed to this garbage
And aside from highlighting Bowles's lack of consequences meted out for 4 years, this should prove that Macc needs to go too. Either he listened to Bowles and went against his own judgment in signing Johnson, or he actually thought Johnson was a good signing - either way it shows poor judgment.
Look on the bright side guys & gals at least suppsedly he was good in St. Louis and a household name there. I never heard of this guy when he was with the Rams and from what I've seen of him here I think he's terrible but hey he was good there so Mac is 'justified' in giving him that contract.
The Wind Up : Trumaine is an Overpaid POS, Mac and Bowles are complete losers who have and will continue to mismanage the Team till they are BOTH shown the door
Its funny too bc none of them ever really harbor any ill will toward the organization..theyre usually pretty positive when asked w the exception of perhaps Mo who the fan base & media turned on. It definitely reflects poorly on Bowles.
I don't post much but I'm sure this isn't the first time you said this or someone told you this. But just cause you don't follow football of other teams or the players as much as the Jets. Doesn't make this comment correct. Johnson has been a good CB for years and was a household name among ppl who actually follow the game. He was gonna get paid period. Has it worked here obviously not, hindsight is 20/20. But his ex coach and others gave him praises and wanted him here w them. The other reason this hasn't worked better is Lazy Rodgers and Tiolet Bowles. Let's see what happens next yr. #2019
He gets up early for work and works really late to pay the bills. Doesn’t have time for football. Bases opinions on haircuts and body mass index. Big Francesca fan.
