I think the claim that he had been around them was found to be bs. The YouTuber who first said, never expounded, and has refused to address the comment. I did see Kaylees father say he had “touched “ their WiFi. I really hope for as good a pca they had , it was limited , and they really have what they need.

I think the vehicle is probably the biggest potential problem. The authorities were still identifying it as a 2011-13 white Hyundai Elantra in the release they put out on December 19th. The question is how they identified it as a 2011-2013 model and what the differences are with the 2015 model? They've got a lot of video of the vehicle from various sources and they should have been able to identify it as a 2015-16 model or alternately as a 2011-2016 model. If the probable cause for anything identifies it as a 2011-13 white Hyundai Elantra based on the video and then the defense can pick apart that identification based on the actual evidence there is a huge problem in the overall case.

The campus police identified Kohberger because he was the owner/driver of a white Hyundai Elantra. If it appears questionable whether or not that was the vehicle captured on video then a lot of other evidence gathered based on that identification is probably at risk.

As part of the discovery…. If the search warrant is sealed, does it still have to be shared with the defense?

If they have the license plate # on video I'm not sure how much of a sticking point it is . . . except that the police sound inept.

Remember O.J. Simpson and the Bruno Magli shoes? There is potential for this guy to put on those shoes and take a walk for himself.

How do you know "what they have right now?"

    Yes.

When a court seals a document, that usually means it is not available to the media or the public. A search warrant and its supporting papers are items that must be supplied to the defense in pre-trial discovery. Ordinarily, the prosecutor doesn't have to provide discovery until after an indictment is handed up. In this case, the two-month sealing order will probably expire before pre-trial discovery is due.

I know what they have on display right now, which is why I phrased it that way. :)

They probably do not have the plate on video. If they did they would have one-stopped to Kohberger's registration instead of having the campus security find the car and pass it back to them.

Maybe. Detectives in many cases have been a lot dumber; but I'm also not as up to the minute and don't know as many details of the case as you and typeO.

They do have that the car in the videos didn’t have a front plate. Consistent with Pa registration. He then changed it to Wa shortly after the murders. It was due as the pa registration was expiring, but also convenient.

one thing I saw, is that the gas station surveillance of the car, the first to be publicly discussed, was left out of the pca, and also doesn’t match up with the time frame anymore.

There's been so much junk reported on social media that I'm not sure what I 'know' is worth anything at this point.

If ever a case needed a cooling off period before trial this is it.

There's no such thing as real reporting anymore. I'm convinced that journalism is dead.

Journalism relied on truth, justice and the American Way. What we've replaced that with is corporate nepotism and control of the media by the 1%.

There's a pretty good case for Democracy and Capitalism are mutually incompatible in the end stages. I'm pretty sure that is going to become a meme at some point soon.

just listened to this… don’t know the validity, obviously (like everything else, portrayed in this manner). But I’ve read things like this since the beginning. Who knows, could it be bigger?

She sounds manic and nuts to me. She's making short clipped statements and repeating herself and then elaborating a bit in each successive iteration. She may just be shooting the shit but my guess is there's more to it than that.

Her statement that 10 students have died since the mass killing is just nuts. She said that several times but there is no way that is true.

There are 11,780 students enrolled at U Idaho, Moscow. If 10 of them died over a 2 month period you'd be talking an annualized rate of 60 deaths a year in a very small population of very young people. That's like 15x the expected death rate of a population in that age bracket (18-22)

Yeah, she’s talking about drugs, and sounds like she huffed a few grams before the call. I’ve seen talk of a heavy drug problem/even cartels in that area. But she’s making some wild claims… her kids and others knew before 10am. I guess her biggest one was, that the 37 year old from the swat incident, and Brian were in cahoots. It did make me raise a brow, because of the search warrant situation, maybe they found a bigger thing goi g on….but we’ll have to wait and see. I still think if it were him, he’s an incel type and acted alone, and had all to do with him :

One of the things that has bothered me since he was identified is the timing of the attack in relation to the timing of him moving to the area.

It seems unlikely that a person, however deranged, would make a major move to a new community with long-term plans in the area (PH.D in Criminal Justice) and also make this kind of violation of their own backyard in such a short period of time. I don't doubt that he is capable of the murders, just that it seems improbable that he would choose to commit these crimes so close to "home".

Now of course if he's guilty then he's likely also a total psychopath and then I guess all sorts of strange things could happen. It just seems strange that he moves to Pullman and then within months commits a mass murder just 10 miles down the road.

So much of this case is strange.

Got it. I don't see any reason to believe they've displayed anything close to their complete arsenal. What's much more miniscule than the tip of the iceberg?

Initially misidentifying the year of the car doesn’t affect the other evidence.

It's part of the probable cause affidavit. It appears that the other evidence in the PCA is based on it. I have no idea if throwing it out would throw the rest of the evidence out with it.

If the authorities can never identify it positively as the car in the videos it's unclear what a challenge to the PCA would do. If the authorities are forced to concede that it is likely not the car in the video then I think the PCA gets thrown out and a lot of stuff we think we know goes away.
