They had plenty of time to get a deal done before free agency. I'm not going to speculate on what Wilkerson's demands were. But I believe you take care of your own before you go outside.

This is funny I thought Wilkerson said he wouldn't hold out? Is Revis his agent?

The method of choosing pro bowl players has been an absolute joke for a long time which in turn makes the award a joke

He's not holding out..yet...this is voluntary and there is no need at all for him to be there. He wants a new deal, what if he got hurt?

He's not ranked in the top 10-15 at his position.6 sacks doesn't scream "one of the best in the league" to me.He's a good player and that's about all he is to me ,He really needs to average more then that a season

Name 15 other defensive lineman you would rather have over Wilkerson.

This is not true at all.

Snacks, Demario Davis, Coples, and others can all walk next year if we do not pay them.

As I said, I agree with your philosophy of taking care of your own first. That isn't always possible or practical, however. You don't know that they had plenty of time. If you've paid any attention to contract negotiations at all, you know that they often tend to drag on. IMO you have to know the facts before you start criticizing and judging someone for something they haven't done. You don't have to speculate, but you can wait until all the facts are in. If it turns out that Mac just didn't want to be bothered, then I'll be upset by that and think that a big mistake. I know that he has been VERY busy, and can easily see why he may not have been able to get Mo re-signed yet. Focusing solely on Mo, and ignoring making needed changes in the Personnel & Scouting Depts., and not giving his full attention to the draft and FA would have been a much bigger mistake imo.

I'm talking stats wise from last season.Wilk has had one great season in 2013 .He's great at stopping the run there's no doubt but id really like to see him have a monster year sacks wise like high double digits

Taking care of your own should always be a priority because it sends the message that if you work hard and play well you get rewarded. They did have enough time from the time of the hiring in January to a little before free agency started. You claim I need to know the facts yet you previously speculated that Wilkerson may have been acting petulant if he doesn't understand why he is not a priority to get taken care of. I also did not say or imply that Mac had to ignore everything else to deal with Wilkerson. But if based on your speculation that Mac may have been too busy then that in itself sends a clear message where Mo stands.

He wasn't even in Profootball Focus top 101 players and your saying I have no credibility? But what does that make one of the most credible football websites? You guys only see things through green colored homer glasses.I'm just saying he isn't worth anything near JJ Watt ,Suh Type of money. His strength is stopping the run he is the best run stopping LE in the league

David Harris is a top 15 ILB in the NFL. Who plays the MIK if he left? In that scenario the lean MLB market and lack of internal assets dictated his compensation. I'm fine with it. Wilk in the other hand is Ina different situation...

do you just forget that he was injured for a portion of this year? last year wilkerson was ranked the 2nd best 3-4 defensive end behind only J.J. watt. i'm no where close to being a homer, muhammad wilkerson is an elite defensive player. i don't think you understand how difficult it is to get pressure as a 3-4 DE with no secondary to back you up

Mo has every right to be angry. He deserved to paid a long time ago and hasn't caused any problems whatsoever. Unless he is asking for some absurd contract (which I doubt giving how cheap he has played for the last 2 years) I don't see what the hold up is. We don't have a QB making 24 million a year and doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon so use that luxury into signing guys like Mo-Wilk, Revis, Cro, ect.. Get this done and keep the band together.

Technically this isn't a holdout until he starts missing 'mandatory' team activities.

With all due respect what are you talking about? You just said he wasn't in the top 15 at his position and yet on profootballfocus he was the 3rd rated 3-4 DE behind JJ Watt and Sheldon. If you consider 4-3 DE's he's still #3. If you consider 4-3 DT he's #4 overall with Aaron Donald taking a spot. Hell let's include linebackers. With 3-4 OLB and 4-3 OLB included Wilkerson is the #7 rated player amongst that group with Khalil Mack, Von Miller, and Justin Houston taking posting higher overall PFF ratings.

Whether you think he's worth a certain amount of money is one thing, but to say he isn't a top 15 player at his position is absurd.

Getting back to the topic of the thread this isn't anything Jets fan should fret over. First of all, these are voluntary workouts. Plenty of players skip voluntary workouts but you only hear about it when there is a contract negotiation. And finally, and most importantly of all, McCagnan stated earlier in the offseason that they want to extend Mo but they will focus on it AFTER the draft. Wilkerson isn't going anywhere. Focus on drafting a stud at #6 and extend Wilkerson after.

Missed 3 games with injury. He was a 2nd team all pro the season before. A healthy Wilkerson is a dominant player, of course not on the level of Watt or Suh, no one is saying he is.

Anyhow people are overreating about Mo being angry, he will be patient and the deal will get done

Mo is a top 7 DL and should be paid like one. I would hope that our FO has got an idea what his price is before the draft so we can move him at the draft if he's asking for a top 2 deal. It would suck to lose him, but it might be necessary if he's overstating his value.
