There is no way guys who are working as hard as these guys came here to be respectable. They came here to compete and win, they have prepared from day one to go to war with every other team in the league. If they have stamped that mindset onto this team in this league they can compete and win. This team went to the playoffs 3 years with barely better talent than this team has with a disorganized and clueless HC. This team can win in this league. Were not going up against the Roger Staubach Cowboys or Bradshaw Steelers every week were going up against some very beatable teams.

If someone can convince me I'm wrong I'm willing to listen. All I know is we play TN week 1 and I expect us to play great and beat the crap out of them on both sides of the ball. I will give you an honest opinion on what I see but I don't expect to see anything like the team that opened at KC last year that people were expecting a SB run out of.
I'm in agreement with Winston because I certainly do understand his logic and why the Jets can be very competitive. It seems that many here have a short memory span in recalling that at the begining of the 2005 campaign the Jets were very seriously considered by many experts to be one the teams that would go deep into the playoffs. I'm not saying they were legit SB contenders; just good enough to make a run for it. I don't think many here will dispute me on this. The question was if Chad was 100%. But that feeling all went down the tubes when Chad got hurt and ONLY when Chad got hurt. Fact is, the QB is the single most critical position for a team like the Jets since many of their other positions (except Martin, Abraham, Mawae, and Vilma) were not exactly all stars; and I wouldn't exactly call the D SB calibre, either. But Chad was the key, though not many knew he was not 100% to begin with for the season opener. He fooled many in the preseason games thinking he was though, including myself. I believe if the key players stay healthy, Jets can be a wining football team. But remaining healthy is the key. The team has talent, no question. I think the secondary is probably the most talented. We saw glimpses of that in all the preseason games. Most of all, the coaching. Mangini will have them prepared, no doubt. This is the biggest reason I feel that makes this interesting. I hope that fans and media show some patience. It may be a bit rough at the start, but rewarding, no doubt.

I am reeking with optimism for this team and their success this year, I just have that pre-season high. I have seen nothing so far that would indicate that we are heading for another 4-12 record. I agree with Mr. biggs that this is an improved team overall, compared with the 04 team.
