This goes both ways. The Jets had 2 amazing individual plays by WRs that accounted for 14 of their 17 points, they turned Brady over twice and blocked a FG and still lost by a TD. They were definitely manhandled on the final drive that effectively ended the game, even with the blocked FG.
The way the game went made me think of the Maddux rumor that you always hear floated around, how when his team was up big he would hang pitches so the next time a batter came up in a big spot he'd pull out the "real" pitch and the hitter would be dead. Now, I'm not sure how true that is, but if there's anyone in the NFL that would pull that kind of stuff its Belichick/Brady and the Pats.
have you watched any games this year? our defense couldnt stop the run. yesterday we gave up over 400 yds on defense, and the ONLY reason we won was because the bills played sloppier than a 42nd street booth whore. how can you list mawae and curtis as positives for being gone? mawae is a great center, who was a huge reason for surtis getting those important blocks on sweeps and the like. i do think we have some talent at rb, but they are guys who are new to the league. blaylock isnt the answer, i think we can agree on that. barlow isnt bad, leon is a good 3rd down type back, and i think they really need to let houston loose to see what he can do. all those guys though cant compare to a healthy curtis. if you really believe they can, id like some of whatever youre smokin.
Absolutely. The thing which I admire about BB is his ability to never be satisfied. Hes always looking for change and a different slant. Mangini leaving so soon after Crennel and Charlie Weis really threw a spanner in his works , but look hes bouncing back again , the guy must be an insomniac.
Hard to say. You may end up being right, but who knows? Pittsburgh is 1-2, Rothlisberger has looked like shit, you never know. Maybe Denver or one of them wins their division, someone gets hurt, it's just way too early to worry about it. It comes down to tiebreakers at the end, usually.
First I think we have seen that the they are out-performing expectations. Beyond that, I'd love it if we made it thru, Winston...It is , as said, gonna be possible in our weak looking division. but I will stand here now , not doubting, just making the hard call....8-8....and you know what....I'd be proud of em.
Our season will come down to beating NE in NE. We embarassed Buffalo in the 2nd half yesterday. The final score should not have been nearly that close.
The thing to keep in mind is, if we keep Chad healthy he knows how to pull out games. The team doesn't have to be a steamroller or even outplay everyone, but if they can stay close we have a guy who can win games for us. That goes a long way. Look at McNair, he does the same thing. Not to put it all on one guy, but the guy with the ball in his hands at the end of games is often the difference in winning and losing.
I felt like bumping this because I'm just so sick of the defense of Chad based on everyone predicted 5 or 6 wins blah, blah, blah and I wrote this prior to the season and many people agreed although many of you thought I was kidding at the time, I certainly wasn't. I felt our team could win 10 games because we have talent and Chad could manage it. I still feel that way. Chad however has taking a turn south just as the rest of the team is starting to show some real signs of progress. I expect Chad to bounce back against the lesser opponents, unless of course he's arm is done which looks like a possability? Regardless of where things go I think we should take a look at Clemens if the opportunity presents itself in a blowout either way. I really think Chad has done okay overall, excellent at times but miserable more often than any of us really expect. He's lack of physical ability is starting to show up more and more and unfortunately we can't afford to throw more than backup money at him for more than a year or two. I have no problem either finishing the season with Chad or moving on next week if that's what the coaching staff thinks is best. The coaching staff has made a couple of blunders but overall I think they have done a great job and I really believe they play the guys who they feel give them the best shot to win. I don't believe Chad is being played because he is a veteran or for some other sense of loyalty, I think right now they just don't believe in either Clemens being ready or Ramsey moving us forward. My position is Chad is the starter and we can win with him against this schedule. I do think Chad is highly over rated and not worth throwing a major investment in by the team going forward. That said there is no guarantee that Clemens is anything more than a project back up and Ramsey has clearly demonstrated very little to this coaching staff to make anyone believe he is an answer. In a nutshell we are stuck whether you like it or not.
How can this season end like it did in 2000? 2000 we were expecting to compete for a playoff spot and we collapsed at the end. I like to think if we don't make the playoffs this year this season will be compared with 1997 when we came off a 1-15 season. Anyway, I still like our chances going into the last 6 games.
Because we had a stretch of 'easy', 'winnable' games to make it to the playoffs, it was almost predetermined, only to end in a Jets-style collapse. This year we are beating the teams we're supposed to, for the most part, but I can see a let-down in the final two games a la 2000.
I'm thinking more like '91, backing into the playoffs with wins over really bad teams (no wins vs teams above .500 that year, and the schedule this year is similar in ineptitude.) a playoff berth with no reasonable shot of advancing. Next year, new RB, QB, WR, G, T, DE (my wish list, anyway ) and 13 wins + Superbowl run.
Very nice prediction. I thought we had a good chance to win games because that is my attitude at the beginning of every year. I would never start a year thinking that we are only going to win 4 games. It's just to upsetting to wait that long for football season and then lose hope before the games already have started
