Eli refused to play for the Chargers because the Manning family had concerns about the Chargers being unwilling to provide both the personnel and the emotional support needed for Eli to develop. I think the Jets are WAY worse than the 2004 Chargers in that respect. I couldn't blame Lawrence for either staying another year or simply refusing to play for the Jets.

I don't think Lawrence is the type to refuse to play for the Jets. You guys aren't really thinking, you're just projecting your own thoughts. Lawrence is a humble kid. He's a leader and not the type to be afraid. I've seen him play a lot, hear a lot more about him than some of you guys, and I think he would relish the challenge.

 

Any team he goes to at #1 overall is #1 for a reason, they STINK.

Lawrence WON'T be Ryan Leaf. He's a leader, he's mature beyond his age, he's smart, and a class act. Leaf was just a dumb jock. Leaf's problem was not an inability to adjust to the NFL; it was his bad attitude and poor work ethic.
