I think there's almost no chance the Jags pass him up. Lawrence has been the presumptive #1 pick since he won the national championship as a freshman. Fields having a good few games isn't going to change that.

Remove the word "almost", and we are in complete agreement. If Fields is #1 pick in every draft since Luck (with possible exception of Burrow), Lawrence is probably #1 in ANY draft, and that likely includes Manning and Elway. I am thinking Deshaun Watson is the floor for this guy. Fields could also turn out to be great, it's just that there are a few boxes Trevor checks that Fields doesn't. For one, he is a 3 year starter, and all 3 years led the team to play-offs, including the championship. Hopefully Fields has a great game and wins one also, but he did sit his first year and had to transfer from Georgia since Fromm was going to start also in his year 2.

In three years Trevor had maybe one really bad game, and that was almost two seasons ago, first game of 2019, where he actually threw more INTs than TDs. Fields just had two games like that in the last month, and had one last year (against Trevor), in two years. Fields had some question marks about relative arm talent and processor, which I don't think hold much water, but Lawrence is just clean in every area. So yeah, he is a clear #1, and Jags WILL draft him since they "won" the tank. However, we are still very lucky to have consolation elite prize like Fields there, who hopefully has a decent game on Monday (he is still injured btw, but will play) and declares soon thereafter. Lawrence may be a platinum prospect, but Fields is still 24 karats gold.

I hope there still is a chance.. at this point I think it’s about 5% but if the Jags hire Meyer and Fields shines against Bama and wins a NC. It could balloon to 50%.
