I blame the concert goers more than anything. I've been to some pretty crazy shows. I was right up against the stage in 1980 something when Guns and Roses filmed the video for Paradise City (they were the opening act for Deep Purple and Aerosmith.) I had general admission on the field at Giants Stadium. I was definitely pushed up against the wall of the stage and some asshole was trying to use me as a ladder to climb up onto the stage, but I never felt like I was in danger. I've seen Suicidal Tendencies, Megadeth, etc all at venues where you could get fucked up. But the crowd knew when to help someone out. Today's people at *that" concert? They don't give a shit and that's why people died.
This was definitely a very self centered crowd, who deserve a good portion on the blame. but the venue was poorly planned. The barricades were bolted down, it was basically a death trap with no exit. About 20-30k estimated broke through the entrance, and it seems Travis Scott encouraged this on Instagram or something . The security was absolute shit. Water was $7 a bottle. (And apparently ran out early). There’s also no way that he didn’t k ow something was very wrong. A good portion of the crowd were yelling stop the show. He had people coming on stage telling him to stop. I’ve seen so many shows where the band saw something wrong and stopped the show. Like professionals.
Concerts were never my thing but I had some friends in college that used to be heavy into the death metal scene. And they’d tell me about the wild mosh pits and shit but when there was always a respect to not trample people and overrun them if they hit the turf.
There's a 9 year old who is brain dead on a ventilator in the hospital. I'm sure that kid's father wishes he could take back the decision to bring him there. Another woman also just died. I'm sure there was a decent portion of folks in attendance who weren't miscreants, but Travis Scott is definitely a moron who is about to become a bankrupt moron. He's not cutting a sympathetic figure. Last I read 90 lawsuits have been lodged so far. Expect that number to go up.
I didn't say everyone or even most of the people in the crowd were sociopaths. I only said Travis Scott is a sociopath, and other sociopaths were in attendance as well.
Definitely. I know there were incidents back in the 70s and early 80s at metal shows, they were learned from and everyone became more observant.
I don’t want to rail on someone who is going through difficult times with an extremely injured child. But what in the world kind of parenting is that to bring a kid to a show like his? A concert in general that isn’t some sort of Disney concert is a bad place for a small child. Especially if you’re not sitting in the mid to upper decks with any child that’s not 15-16 or older.
Totally agree, but keep in mind… Travis Scott has had a themed happy meal, and been on the box if reeses cereal. Also is a character , or something on fortnite. I would think that if a parent took their kid to a concert, and it was too much… they could just leave. These people couldn’t leave if the begged to. Once in, it was a trap.
