Yeeeah...fight the power! Fuck tha police! Although I think that Travis Henry is as dumb as they come, it's good to see someone get away with it.
So everyone would be in snoop dogg's next video if the NFL changed the rule? I wonder why then doesn't the MLB have a huge thug problem even though it doesn't suspend players for testing positive for pot? Great job of backing up your opinion with an actual argument rather than just blurting out your opinion.
you compared smoking pot to eating at burger king..... what else can you say?...it was just a stupid post
I think everybody has lost sight of what this was all about. It isn't whether or not Henry smoked pot. It is all about whether or not the NFL had any proof at all that he did. If they did he would have been suspended. There is no doubt about that. They obviously didn't and that is why he won the appeal and why they did nothing about it.
mlb cant compete with the nfl...not that that has much to do with testing for pot, but in general consider the makeup of the nfl/nba in comparison to mlb
the argument spun from that, but i dont think anyone had a problem with henry being cleared or the way the league handled the situation
They said on ESPN radio when they announced this that players win appeals all the time but they usually don't go public first with the pending suspension if an appeal is pending.
No I don't think you understood what I said at all. Did you not read anything I said at all about the difference between questioning the principle behind a rule and questioning the decision in regards to that rule? If Henry did test positive, he should have been suspended but only because he agreed to follow a rule that he broke. The rule is stupid in my opinion, but he agreed to it and if he did hypothetically break it, he still should have faced the consequence. However, the rule is still stupid and not warranted in my mind.
usually when a player tests positive word gets out right away and then the player decides whether or not to appeal.
Don't read anything besides those two quotes. Don't realize the difference between questioning a rule (which as I explained which is what I was talking about in the first post) and questioning a decision based on that rule. Also, suppose I was saying in one quote that he didn't deserve to get punished because the rule makes no sense in the first quote and in the second I said he should get punished because the rule DOES make sense, well it doesn't matter because nobody has a right to change their mind.
how about realizing the fact that the reason you were jumped was for being a moron, and now you change your opinion and pretend it's no big deal. If you had said what you said later in the first post, things would've been different.
I never even changed my opinion. If you read the very next post I acknowledged that yes, rules are rules and the NFL has to be consistent but I made clear the distinction that I was attempting to make between acknowledging that reality while questioning the rule itself. Edit: two posts after my first not the next post after that "
I'm talking about policies to police players lives to make them live a supremely pious lifestyle in accordance with all of their corporate world sponsorship. Policies that have nothing to do with PEDS or a competitive balance, but rather the NFL going on a moral crusade in order to appear as clean as possible. I really don't pity an NFL player at all who feels crushed that they can't smoke weed, but it (the drug testing rule) still irritates me just because it goes along with the whole bullshit PR campaign of the NFL.
They are doing nothing in that department that any other privately owned company (and yes, the NFL is a privately-owned organization) does in terms of drug testing. These players are public figures that represent the product. Their image makes them money, so they protect it. It has nothing to do with a moral crusade. The NFL doesn't decide what drugs are legal and which ones aren't. They just comply.
