Because we all know carries in trash time when your QB is 40 some years old and no threat to throw tell the whole story.

    :breakdance:

That its pretty ridiculous to suggest that Powell is better than Benson at this point.

Im not lobbying for Benson at all whatsoever, nor am I suggesting that we need to bring in a FA back.

But rather suggesting that any expectations of Powell REALLY need to be tempered.

If Powell gets 400 yards on the ground this year, people should be really happy with that (assuming hes not a fumbling machine).

Although at this point it "sounds" like his greatest asset is his blocking. So if were lucky he might carve out a role on 3rd downs

Powell was a rookie last year - apparently he's been very impressive in camp so far and was taking first team snaps today. RB coach said the 3rd down back competition is wide open between McKnight & Powell right now.

Who is the Jets third-down RB? "That job is wide open right now," RBs coach Anthony Lynn told me. McKnight vs Powell, Lynn says #nyj

RB Bilal Powell is taking reps with the ones.

More than half of Powells came against Denver which didnt have trash time.

And the only game Brunell played in Powel didnt get touches in.

So im not sure what youre suggesting... at all ?

Our runningbacks are really unproven. I'm very glad Powell is impressing, I wasn't sold on him. Obviously, I'm still not, but the Jets have put enough picks into RB lately. It's time to see if it was worth it.

Benson is a JAG and not a 3rd down back. If Greene got hurt, or the other backs looked mediocre, I'm okay with bringing him in. But runningback is one of the easiest plug and play spots on the field.

Benson has proven he's an average back. Between Ganaway/Powell/McKnight, I think we can get good enough production behind Greene. And if not, young guys will be cut at the end of camp that may be able to help, too.

Rex on Hunter: "There's no doubt I've been impressed with Wayne." #nyj

STFU REX! Don't tell me Wayne Fucking Hunter is impressive. Seriously, STFU. I love Rex, but this shit is really starting to get on my nerves! The guy is TERRIBLE.

lol thats fine but if your a 4th rd rookie are you going to start over Greene or Tomlinson?

he will steal more carries than people think this year. giving a better sample size.

Impressed enough to hire somebody else to challenge him for the role.

I agree. Maybe the Jets knew it would be voided but did it to scare WFH.

Am I the only one that wants to see Shonn Greene in on 3rd down / goal line? The guy proved he can do it in the chiefs game. As much as I liked LT, I think Greene is a better bruiser for 3rd and short / goal line situations.

How bad must Kerley feel to get called out when everyone else is on the pro bowl roster according to Rex?

The lesser knowns always seem to standout early.......sort of an annual ritual.
I wish success for all of them.
I'll pick out Brett Roy from that group as the next undrafted contributor (short of a Mike DeVito). Maybe Rex sees some Jarrett Johnson in him.

Tim Tebow executed a perfect jump-pass as the personal punt protector in practice today. #nyj

If this works in a game at a crucial moment, I expect twitter to meltdown.

I'm a big believer in muscle over finesse in a goal line and 3rd and short (I mean between inches and 2 yard territory) situations. So, yeah, I'm with you on that.
