Rosenblatt: Zach Wilson with a nice completion down the field to Jason Brownlee — though I thought Will McDonald would’ve sacked him. #Jets Waszak Jr: Zach Wilson connects with Jason Brownlee in the front corner of the end zone for a TD. #Jets
Given Becton's continued struggles and the very real possibility that he never returns to full fitness, Mitchell's performance is crucial.
Rosenblatt: The #Jets offense is doing up downs for losing to the defense. Mekhi Becton joined them and participated. Cimini: Offense does pushups, as defense clearly “won” the day. The DL had itself a day, swarming the line of scrimmage. It’s a very good DL. #jets Eric Allen: Defense takes home the red-zone competition period. Offense has to do up-downs. Now two-minute period and 8 has the offense moving
Rosenblatt: Will McDonald is so damn fast off the line. Got around Billy Turner and nearly forced a strip sack on Aaron Rodgers just now. #Jets
Cimini: Rodgers-led offense sputters in a two-minute situation. Nice completion to Conklin on third down, but he throws incomplete on fourth down around the red area. One of those days. #jets Al Iannazzone: Defense holds Rodgers-led offense without a TD in hurry up offense. Started at 45 and stalled at the 13. Will McDonald IV put some pressure on Rodgers during it. #Jets
Looks like Zach is having far and away the best camp of his career so far. That's important in case Rodgers has to miss some time.
Staley: Practice is over. The Jets went through 2 minutes situations but the offense couldn’t find the end zone. Rodgers threw an incompletion on fourth down to end the session Iannazzone: Practice is over. Zach Wilson threw two TD passes today. Otherwise, the defense won the day. D-Line has been impressive against the run and pass. #Jets
Time to panic Jets fans! Rodgers is washed up! It was a colossal mistake to trade for him! What a waste! We're doomed, doomed I tell you!
Rosenblatt: Robert Saleh said Mekhi Becton’s knee “wasn’t up for it today”. Called him day to day. #Jets Cimini: On Becton: Saleh says his “knee wasn’t up for it today, so we held him back.” He says Becton is day-to-day, hoping for tomorrow practice. It’s his surgically repaired right knee. #jets
Again, it's T.C. so has to be taken in context, but from the reports it seems that he's really improved in the areas he struggled with before. Yes, he has to prove he can do that in real live games, but showing it in practice - against a pretty good defense that obviously gave Rodgers trouble - is a good sign.
Hopefully just a precaution, but the wording is a bit worrisome. Kind of reminds of "large human" quote from before.
Rosenblatt: JFM is dealing with some groin tightness. Saleh said it might cost him a couple days. #Jets Waszak Jr.: Saleh says John Franklin-Myers has some growing pain that “might cost him a couple of days,” but it’s not considered serious. #Jets Vasquez: Saleh said JFM is dealing with groin tightness. It became an issue during one-on-one drills but he played thru it early in practice before the trainers pulled him. Saleh said it might cost him a couple days but doesn’t expect it to be a long-term thing. #Jets Cimini: JFM left with groin tightness, per Saleh, who doesn’t seem concerned. #jets
It's a start. I think being a solid back-up this year is a reasonable and attainable goal. Yes, it is far short of expectations we had when he was drafted, but this is what we need now, and Zack is off to a good start to achieve that goal.
I agree…I think this is VERY troubling….not sure how long it’s been since the surgery, but its a concerning quote I understand being rusty from not playing in two years, I understand being a bit hesitant in a new offensive scheme after a long layoff…those things make sense. But to hear that his knee isn’t ready is different…that’s an injury issue not a rusty issue Unbelievable and honestly very disappointing
Hey at the very least if he can get Zach to look like a functional starting quarterback he’s helped out more than anyone on the coaching staff the past two years
