Rosenblatt: Jets doing 7 on 7 today to start team drills. Robert Saleh doesn’t usually like doing 7 on 7. #Jets Aaron Rodgers has been a bit off in 7 on 7. Good coverage by the DBs (especially DJ Reed and Michael Carter) but he’s 1/4 to start out. #Jets Zach Wilson: 3/4.
Cimini: One-on-one pass fish drills: Rookie Will McDonald and Bryce Huff — speed rushers — look explosive vs OTs. #jets
Sabo: A rare 7v7 drill. (Not that it’s rare from a general perspective but instead that they haven’t done it much yet this camp.) —Aaron Rodgers begins it with a beauty of an anticipation hookup with Corey Davis (8-12 yards and potential YAC if he beats the CB). —Next play falls incomplete, but it was a positive QB throw. He saw 1v1 and placed it in the perfect spot (back shoulder), which allowed Garrett Wilson a chance. Got one hand on it, great coverage by Reed. —Next two also fall incomplete, one of which sails wide of Ruckert. Based on my angle, I cannot be sure of this, but there’s a chance that the throw is on him if Ruckert doesn’t drift his route as much as he did. Didn’t see much communication afterward, but it’s worth a callout. ***Every completion or incompletion has a unique story behind it.
Rosenblatt: Max Mitchell and Billy Turner switched sides today blocking for Aaron Rodgers. Al Woods and Quinnen Williams are unblockable on running plays. Jermaine Johnson again with a sack. Got around Max Mitchell to get to Rodgers. Johnson continues to be a star of camp. #Jets Yodny Cajuste at left tackle for Zach Wilson with Mekhi Becton out. He had a nice block downfield on a run. #Jets Zach Wilson just had a nice deep ball to Alex Erickson for a huge gain in 11 on 11. #Jets Cimini: Jermaine Johnson beats Mitchell at LT and “sacks” Rodgers. Strong camp for Johnson. #jets
Sabo: First play of teams saw a quick-hitting rush attempt gobbled up at LOS. Right side of DL moved things considerably. Next play, another gobbled up rush attempt, this time with the left side of the DL and run support moving the O. D comes out incredibly on its toes. Aggressive. After an incompletion (GW, AR scramble, good coverage), D stuffs another MC attempt. This time, Carl Lawson gets him backside (down LOS).
Costello: Zach Wilson with a beautiful play action deep ball to Alex Erickson for a 65-yard TD Cimini: Zach Wilson hits Alex Erickson with a long one down the sideline, big roar from the crowd. #jets Greenberg: Zach Wilson just really nice beautiful deep pass to Alex Erickson. Ashtyn Davis was in coverage. Vasquez: Zach Wilson looked good in 7 on 7 earlier and it continues during full team drills. He just found Alex Erickson with a perfect deep ball down the left side for a 65 yd TD. #Jets
Vasquez: Jets start 11 v 11 with Billy Turner and Max Mitchell switching sides at tackle for first time this camp. Jermaine Johnson gets into the backfield for a would-be sack of Rodgers on the first pass attempt. His strong camp continues.
Costello: Jets D line dominating the O line Staley: The Jets defensive line during 11-on-11 drills was feasting
Sabo: Zach Wilson with a chunk to Erickson, in timing, smooth, and most importantly, he seemed to use his legs (drove off the back foot). 50+ yards in air, WR ran another 20+ for TD. ZW threw it early enough, didn’t allow DB (I believe it was Ashtyn Davis) to close, so it was delivered in perfect stride, and it was also delivered towards the numbers (deep and over). ***Will have to check the replay, but solid real-time signs with leg drive (is my initial impression). Shortly thereafter, Kutztown’s own Jerome Kapp gets ok the board with a grab.
Rosenblatt: Bryce Huff — sneakily having a great camp — wouldve sacked Aaron Rodgers on a short completion to Michael Carter. #Jets Aaron Rodgers picked off by Tony Adams on a deep pass for Corey Davis. There was a flag but unclear if it was on the defense or offense. #Jets Greenberg: Tony Adams with a pick off Aaron Rodgers on a deep pass intended for Corey Davis. Adams came across the field and did a nice job staying in bounds. But it was a free play since Al Woods jumped offside. Staley: On a free play because a player was offsides, Aaron Rodgers takes a deep shot down the field but the pass was picked off by Tony Adams, who has had an impressive camp
Rosenblatt: And again, Jermaine Johnson would’ve sacked Zach Wilson on a screen pass — he beat Carter Warren very quickly at RT — but had to pull up. #Jets
Rosenblatt: Zaire Barnes just picked off Tim Boyle. Bad throw but good play by the rookie. #Jets Cimini: Rookie Zaire Barnes gets on the board by picking off Tim Boyle. Nice long return, too. #jets
Cimini: John Franklin-Myers is leaving the field with a trainer. Will update. #jets Vasquez: John Franklin-Myers just walked off the field with a trainer. #Jets Rosenblatt: JFM just left with a trainer.
Costello: Rodgers is on the defensive sideline chatting with the cornerbacks. Not sure I’ve ever seen a QB do that before.
Sabo: Ok, Tony Adams shows his range by picking off Rodgers, takes it away from CD. (Missed the first part of the play, so not sure of much with this one.) Then, Zach Wilson pulls off an encouraging one, tough throw (short, outside, decent coverage) to Yeboah, but here’s he callout: Jermaine Johnson undressed rookie Carter Warren on the play (simple hand slap, down, moving wide), which means ZW had JJ in his face immediately and on the same side the throw was attempted. He didn’t freeze, remained confident.
Cimini: Quick takeaway: Run game really struggling in padded practice. No room to run as the OL continues to shuffle players at both tackle spots. #jets
Rosenblatt: JFM walking gingerly but he just came back to the field with his helmet. Cimini: Good sign: Franklin-Myers returns to the sideline. #jets Vasquez: JFM is back. Still has his helmet so we’ll see what he does the rest of practice.
Thanks for the kind words! I wish Twitter still worked as normal because it was much easier to just click copy tweet and post it in here but I know there's a ton of people on this forum that enjoy this time of the year as much as I do so we've gotta give the people what they want! haha
Rosenblatt: Micheal Clemons in for JFM who left earlier with a trainer but returned to the sideline. Max Mitchell doing a good job at LT in the matchup with Clemons so far. #Jets
