We have often disagreed, but I'm happy to be in agreement with you on this. IDK why so many here trashed that pick. I still think he has the tools to be a starter - albeit a mediocre one - and certainly a decent backup.

How could you possibly know if he sucks or not? He was in the Witness Protection Program with Gase. Give the guy a chance.

Well, RZ is the toughest area to compete passes in. No surprise he's struggling there, but I believe he'll figure it out.

If it takes you 8 hours to fill out a job application, you shouldn’t have a job.

Eh. Flawed comparison on my part and good point but the point remains. If the Jets continuously end up in the position where they enter year 3 or 4 of a first round quarterback and they're unsure of what the is - grab mid round QB here or there. You can walk into a Matt Schaub for a second round pick scenario every one in a while.

He was a 4th round pick, which like any other 4th round QB means he probably sucks. I'm all for giving him the chance to prove otherwise, but he shouldn't be handed the backup job.

Would you rather a career loser like the Fitzpatrick's/McCown's of the world be handed the backup job?

Not me. I rather our coaching staff coach up and develop the Morgan's/White's of the world (into quality backups).

First of all, White's been in the league 3 years and is a practice squad guy; there's pretty much zero chance he becomes a quality backup. As for Morgan, the vast majority of 4th round QBs never reach Fitz/McCown's level; what makes Morgan so special? Odds are he's just another Bollinger/Clemens/McElroy/Simms/Petty. And I never said a veteran should be handed the backup job; I said Morgan should have to earn it by beating out a veteran (and Josh Johnson doesn't count).

Why would you want a Fitzpatrick/McCown type of career losing backup?

Combined they've had 33 years of horrible NFL experience, an awful career losing record of 82-138-1 (.371%) with 0 career playoff wins (0-1).

What have they done for their 17 combined different teams? Any playoff wins, or no? What would they do for the Jets outside of absolutely nothingness?

Sorry. But I rather our coaching staff coach up Morgan/White as N.E coached up Jimmy G and/or how Philadelphia coached up Foles.

Because the only things that career losing "veteran" backups can do for your younger QBs is A.) Secretly root for them to fail. B.) Teach them bad habits. C.) Lose when given an opportunity to play and D.) Never win you a playoff game because E.) They STINK!

    NO THNX.

Decent article from Cimini, even verging on fluffy. I'd forgotten how tired I was of meat head coaches until I started hearing Saleh speaking this offseason. Robert Saleh is a teacher to the core.

This part really boggles my mind:

Is today a day off before the Green and White scrimmage tomorrow or is there a practice?

Agree with this, and I hope that the Jets get themselves in the right position with personnel to start pulling in compensatory picks. That frees up capital to take a QB in most drafts.

I hate to use the Patriots' drafting as an example of how to do things right, but they took QB in the middle to late rounds most years and part of me thinks it bore the secondary purpose of pissing off Tom Brady and keeping that chip on his shoulder.

And you never know when you'll luck into the next Cinderella that can save you loads of cap space on your current QB's mega contract.
