A lot of these college QBs from big schools such as Alabama/Clemson/Ohio State/Florida/FSU/Notre Dame etc often times fall flat on their face once on an (even) NFL playing field because in college they were surrounded by nothing but blue chip prospects and 5 star recruits and always had an overwhelming advantage over opposing defenses. I'm more impressed with what an underdog Wilson did @ BYU while being surrounded by 99% of teammates who had no chance of ever playing in the NFL. But yet still posted the 6th highest NCAA QB Rating of All-Time. That's an example of a Quarterback who made his teammates and coaching staff better (and not the other way around).
It's a blessing in disguise that he never seen the playing field last year but instead developed and learned from the outside looking in. He would've been setup for immediate failure on a 2-14 team and lined up alongside of an atrocious RT in Fant. Come year #2 I'm expecting him to become our RG starter while having real help on the right side with Morgan Moses opposite of him who's an animal of a RT.
And having awful QBs who couldn't find Denzel wide open when uncovered = Sam/Joe and that's all I'm trying to point out because I went back and watched a lot of prerecorded games out of offseason boredom just to focus on Denzel Mims and he was open so many times only to be ignored because our QBs were not only running for their lives but also no field vision whatsoever.
Elijah Moore is a problem. We've never once featured a playmaking WR like this and not even Santana Moss was this explosive or this polished coming out of college. I don't make these claims often but this man has All-Pro potential as only a rookie. He's scary good. And I believe breaking the All-Time single season Ole' Mississippi receiving record for most receptions (despite only 8 games) is a red flag. On just how special and rare he truly is. The SEC couldn't stop him and neither can the NFL.
