You just laid out how we can SAVE money by cutting him for the next three years... then turn around and call the contract an albatross? Either way, the injury is concerning. He's got all the talent in the world but his body just can't hold up playing this game it seems. We'll see how serious this injury is but the guy is already one major neck surgery deep and has had issues with seemingly every part of his leg at one point or another. Him and Maye... I sure hope we don't have to play the "what could have been" game with these two guys three years down the road. Edit: So that's good at least.
the best part of Enunwa's game is also the part that holds him back. Where most receivers go down to avoid hits or run out of bounds, Enunwa takes it upfield with his head down looking for more yardage. that's why he's injured so much
Listen, I hear ya! I hope it doesn't come to that, and if it does, I will be sad. Enunwa is one of my favorite players on the Jets, but if he can't stay healthy and contribute, how much is he really going to help the team? I hope this is minor, he will recover and have no further injuries this year or the rest of his career with the Jets, but his history doesn't suggest that will be the case. Above Enunwa or any player, I am a Jets fan and I want to see them win. I favor loyalty to players more than many, if not most fans, but my loyalty has limits. How would you think/feel about the situation if an injury to him at a crucial period next season kept us out of the playoffs, or kept us from advancing in the playoffs? I know, injuries can happen to any player at any time, but you gotta admit that Enunwa has had more than his share of injuries. Some players are just more injury prone due to the way they play or their physiology.
I agree. It will only become an albatross if he can't stay healthy and contribute at a high level. Hopefully, it will never come to that. If he stays healthy and contributes the way he has in the past when healthy, he will be worth every penny. I was glad when the Jets extended Enunwa, but never paid attention to the contract breakdown. It was just a little shocking when I looked it up this morning.
Yes, we can save money, but we would also take big dead money hits on the cap. In my opinion, those large amounts of dead money would make it a bit of an albatross. I really like both Enunwa and Maye and hope that they can get healthy and never have another injury in their careers, but at this point, that seems doubtful.
If he stays healthy he will produce. Last year was tough because bates basically offered him up to the teeth of the opposing D’s with screen after screen . I worry about muscle pulls and ligaments with guys like him that are all jacked up. Those guys are too tight and pulls and such linger with them.
It’s great when he is out on the edge or deep down the seam v defensive backs. Bates making him do it v linebackers killed him last year.
Yeah I was thinking about that earlier. I think he needs to get into some sort of stretching regimen, be it Pilates, ballet, yoga, or martial arts. I think that would help him stay healthier.
BTW has anyone noticed Cimini totally ripped off one of the other beat writers, using emojis for end of practice evaluations? Cimini is horrible. No creativity.
